Another one for art-of-discord, hope you enjoy~ I may revisit this later to better develop.
The howling has started again.
It’s not so much as howling as it is screams. Painful screams like someone is being torn apart. And it is keeping me awake.
This happens every night, never at the same time. Sooner when the night sky is clear, I’ve noticed.
I swear once that I could hear a word in with the howling.
But most of the time it’s inhuman garbled screams.
I once chatted up my neighbor, a wild guy he is, like a country greaser. Always wears these aviator sunglasses. Though when I asked if he had heard anything unusual at night he gave this smirk and just replied, “Wolves, I guess.”
I’ve started to drink myself to sleep, it helps most of the time, but sometimes I wake up to the loud screeches. A hang over mixed with the loud noises make me wonder why I don’t just move.
I’m starting to document this now. Ever since the weather has been cooling off...the howling is getting louder. I live in a dense wooded area. I wonder...if the wolves are getting ready to hibernate or something. Do wolves even hibernate?
Someone is knocking at my door...
Oh god, it’s my neighbor...and he’s grinning this sharp toothy grin...
“I’ll huff and I’ll puff, little piggy,” he shouted so loud I could hear him...
It didn’t occur to me that I left my bedroom window open.
