Tips for Normal Delivery in Urdu
Question via Twitter: Eye Dominance
@CurlingTips Do you have any specific tips to help line up in the hack to compensate for a dominant eye? Thanks!

Hi Jordan,
Great question. The easiest way to accurately line up the stone, and yourself, along the line of delivery is to position the stone directly under your dominant eye at all times.
From hack setup, through your delivery, to releasing the stone, you want the middle of the stone lined up between your dominant eye and the broom.
No matter the turn, or how far out in the wings you are, you must adjust your rock & body position so that your dominant eye has the best view. If you do not do this, your body will automatically make adjustments to fulfill the need for your dominant eye to see the line, which can cause multiple problems. Or worse, you'll release to the "broom" and only find out afterwards that you were off line - not fun.
People who are right-handed/left eye dominant must turn their head slightly to the right (toward their dominant hand), especially when shooting down the left side of the sheet, in order to give their left eye the best view of the line. Tucking your chin slightly down while turning your head will make this more comfortable for your neck. And this rings true for left-handed/right eye dominant throwers as well, just turn your head slightly to the left.
Setting up a video camera, or having a friend hold the broom while taking a video on their phone, will give you some visual feedback. Is your rock in position under your dominant eye, and does it stay there throughout the delivery? Is your rock position similar for both turns, both to the center and to the wings? Make sure the camera is pointed directly at you and down the line of delivery, and if you can show the top of the broomstick so you have a visual reference for line- all the better.
Any new changes have an adjustment period to them, and this one is no different. It might feel strange at first, especially if you have not been lining up for your dominant eye in the past. However, the payoff is absolutely worth it- with practice you will see your accuracy in hitting the broom increase dramatically! Good luck. - Empowered Curling (@CurlingTips)
