name: delphinius kanmin (his friends call him delphi)

age: 21 (dungeon exploration arc), 22 (final arc)

occupation: member of the diamond kingdom military

height: 1.72 meters (5'7")

background:

delphi was born to a diamond noble family, sygyn and duene kanmin. at a very young age, his older sibling mallow was killed in combat by charlotte roselei during a border skirmish with clover. the death shattered his family, with sygyn blaming duene for mallow's death and retreating into herself, while duene began to hype up delphi's military career. delphi was pressured into the military training, and joined as soon as he got his grimoire, although it was mostly to escape home.

delphi quickly attached himself to lotus whomalt, one of his commanders. lotus saw the young mage who clearly needed some sort of stable father figure and got delphi transferred to his squad. but even in the military, mallow's reputation hung over his head, and delphi was constantly compared to his older sibling, who racked up quite a cloverian body count before they were stopped. it's for this reason he doesn't quite talk to people outside of lotus and his unit.

when lotus dipped to follow morris to spade, delphi lost all trust in the man who had once been his substitute father figure. he has taken over running lotus' squad in the interim, and the relationship has become very very strained. he still isn't all that close to his parents in any capacity.

✨- How did you come up with the OC’s name?

alois - i looked up french (or russian) names (i cannot remember) and went oh i like this one. it matched with their twin (anais) so i stuck with it

delphi - it's short for delphinius which is a reference to the delphinium flower. i wanted him to sort of match with mallow bc they both have flower names. he did it on accident tho

🎹 - Do they have any hobbies?

alois - they will lie and say that their hobby is butchery but actually it's sculpting. it's hard to find clay though so they're kind of pissy about it.

delphi - he's a bit of a hoarder but he doesn't like talking about it. he uses his gemstone magic to make little trinkets for himself and other people

❤️ - What is one of your OC’s best memories?

alois - one time they found a bird's nest and took care of the chicks for a while. they loved those birds a little more than they love anyone else. dante is jealous of birds.

delphi - he had a friend back in school who he'd play with. he always felt a little less anxious with her. she's gone now, and he's not sure where she went.

alois - i wanted to give ciel a lot of siblings and thats really it

delphi - gemstone magic cool as hell sorry he's a little boring there too

5. What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?

“Um… me? Well… I like to read, I guess. I like the, um, the novels where you get sent away to another world the best. I don’t know what they’re called, haha.”

7. Who do you look up to?

“Oh! General Whomalt, of course. He’s so smart, and doesn’t subscribe to the, the “never back down never give up” mentality Diamond has. It’s refreshing, being able to run away…”

“Plus, he respects me as me, and not as Mallow’s brother. Considering the exploits they got up to, I like that.”

12. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be? (on vacation or permanently!)

“There’s a really nice beach on the coast of Diamond… It’s got some of the best coral reefs in the continent, I’ve heard. I’d like to see that…. And maybe live there… off grid…”

2. Can they take care of a plant? What about a pet? What about a child?

a plant? absolutely. a pet? most likely. a child? he would panic. delphi's historical experience with parenthood is not incredible, and he would worry about hurting the kid or neglecting the kid's needs or not taking good enough care of the kid. ironically, he would overcompensate for this and actually be very good at it, if not way too overprotective.

delphi's an incredibly nervous little man, okay. he's got anxiety.

26. Talent or effort?

effort, one hundred percent. delphi's nervousness makes him actually put a lot less stock in his talent than he should. he's very talented, but he believes his effort is more important. as long as he puts his all into something, he can't do it badly (but he can do it wrong! and that also scares him! get him some fluoxitine)

alois:

6. Who will they take advice from, no matter what it is? Who won’t they take advice from, no matter what it is?

alois will take advice from aayden exclusively, which is hysterical because aayden has like -5 critical thinking. but alois never really felt close to their older brothers, ciel was gone for most of their life, anais is unhinged, and joey is very hard to talk to on the best of days. because of that, and because they raised ange together, alois and aayden are actually incredibly close.

they would never take advice under any circumstances from zenon. he is their least favorite zogratis sibling. alois did not know zenon too well, they were a castle guard, but they DESPISE him with a passion. zenon could tell them to keep the knife in to stop the bleeding and alois would pull the knife out, exclusively because they hate zenon. you ever know someone you don't even know too well but like their vibes are SO OFF. yeah, zenon is that to alois. which is crazy, because alois is also a weird emo little freak.

20. What do they like that nobody else does?
