I recently finished geneing up my raptor squad of fandragons, between putting tapir-striation on Echo the moment it came out, and today finally getting around to changing Blue (my oldest of the four) from contour to scales. It’s taken me a surprisingly long time to get them all assembled, considering I started sometime back in spring ‘16. Part of that was the wait for suitable genes for Echo; I had her for 5-6 months before tapir-striation came out, and didn’t like any prior gene pair on her (though savannah-safari tempted me). I still might change her in future; I’m not 100% certain that I like the dark blue tint to some areas of the pattern. The other three I’m very happy with the end results of.
And yes, I know they should canonically all be female; blame the game gods for Blue being male instead (he’s the 1966th dragon I ever hatched, and that’s a personally significant number; when he came out perfect for Blue in almost every other way, I threw up my hands and just went with it).
