Sounds Around Town
Lucero records at Sam Phillips Recording Service. Photo by Jamie Harmon. Welcome to “Sounds Around Town”, a semi-regular column about who is recording what and where in Memphis. Another perk of going to school at Mercyhurst / living in Erie is the Delta Sonic Carwash. I think that's why there are blue and green lights 😉
Oil Change Review: Delta sonic
By Steve
Cruised past 5000 miles since my last oil change and damn was my car thirsty. Either way I knew I was going to get hornswaggled but avoiding a true mechanic was the goal of the day. So? Delta Sonic!
The one on Delaware seemed too far away so the one on main street was the target. Evidently you just pull up, park the car and give ‘em the keys so thats what I did. There was even a $19.99 oil change sign!
They took the keys and sent me to the waiting room. Again this is Main St in Buffalo so it was the usual cast of charecters (no lie) a gay dude with a purse and rubber boots, a black dude talking loudish on his phone, a white 30 something on his tablet, a muslim guy a white mom with sleds she took out of her car so they would “clean everything”, an old white couple with a woman in a full fur coat who didn’t close her mouth whilst watching tv and me.
After a couple minutes they walked me back in the upselling area (my name for it) to “check out my air filters”. Fuck hornswaggled. What! That cabin filter looked like the cigerette smoking guy from X-files’ face. $35 more down the drain.
Oh and the oil change cost $26. At least there was a minimal wait and my phone had enough charge to check twitter
See ya again in 5,080 miles
