Delta Fox will rise to the top
Delta Fox, Dream team, or bad meme?
Earlier this week we saw the announcement of the new all star echo fox challenger team, Delta Fox. The team consists of ex LCS players Dyrus, Shiphtur, Voyboy, Imaqtpie and Scarra with former analyst and coach for team Liquid, Mark "MarkZ" Zimmerman. All players on team Delta Fox are players that have been seen on the NA LCS stage before and now all have huge live streams on twitch with players like Imaqtpie gathering upwards of 40,000 daily viewers. Some see this team as a joke, or a way of gathering fans of streamers to fans of the Echo Fox label. Either way it is very clear they still all have the same competitive spirit and want to compete on a level solo queue cant give them. All players on the team live streamed the first skrim playing some of Echofoxes starting roster and some sub players as well. It did go exactly how you would expect, They spend the first games ban phase spelling out pizza and if that wasn't bad enough they went for a five man invade and got almost aced 2 minutes into the game. This was their first game together as a team and later in the game it was very clear they started to take it more seriously then they were at the start, we hope that they can and will play that way from the start.
Something that may be interesting coming into them actually playing games together, although they still may never have the same synergy of a team that has played together for years, the solo talent is may still there it might go to show that the habit of players retiring in the mid 20s is unfounded as players do not magically lose their reflexes or talent for the game. Earlier today they had their first regular season game against eUnited, a team that did quality for the promotional tournament last split. Unfortunately the game, like most challenger games was not streamed but the teams did post the end game screen to their twitters.
Game 1
Game 2
As you can see they did lose both games by a pretty wide margin. I would love to see this team do well in the challenger circuit and I do think with more games together they could do better, but for the time being it doesn't look good for the dream team. Maybe with their game against CLG Academy we can see some improvements, and the team putting on more of a fighting chance.
