Okay serious mode: drawing Phen was something on my mind for a while and initially I was going to think of something to draw for The Sprigatito's Key since wow I loved the concept, but when I saw you talking about how Phen would do Champion Leon's pose when Mega Evolving her Pokemon (dork), my brain went "Eureka." I do apologize if the hairstyle is not very indicative that it's Phen though orz. Was a bit of a challenge trying to figure out what the side ponytail would look like without a proper side reference (while trying to not alert you to what I was up to) but ehhhhh honestly I'm willing to draw a second revision if you send proper references.

For now though, I have this offering to give you.

What do you think Kieran and Phen would do together after graduating? Travel a bit before the next chapter in their lives, etc

At the moment I'd like to think they do a bit of travelling. Kieran's always expressed an interest in going to Johto because Yukito travelled there in his youth and learned about traditional Pokeball crafting in Azalea. And Phen would find a lot of inspiration for her art there, too.

At the very least that's one of the plans they have post-graduation. Both of them also travel to Blueberry and Naranja to watch each other graduate; it's all very sweet and supportive 💖

Introductions!

I should be polite and actually make a little intro to my blog since I'm being more active than I've ever been before lol.

I'm Demica Kempton, though tend to go by Demi for short as that's a bit of a long online handle. It's also my handle for pretty much all my socials and my AO3.

I go by she/they pronouns.

I'm getting back into fanfiction writing after having horrendous writer's block for 5+ years. My current work is Nothing Short of Everything, an Indigo Disk focused story featuring an OC in place of the default protagonist. This blog is mostly for ramblings and posting updates but I'm trying to be more interactive in the community because the Dipplinshippers out there inspired me to actually post my story.

Nothing Short of Everything gets new chapters every Tuesday and Saturday, subject to small change should I be busy on those days. I've been writing heaps of it in advance to keep the consistency.

I'm not against default characters but I've always written with OCs, not everyone's cup of tea I know but I'll forever have a place for them in my heart. So, in turn, I do enjoy fanfics with OCs.

My asks are always open should anyone want to fire a question about anything my way, I'll be happy to answer! Just don't be weird, please.

I'll probably tweak and update this as time goes on but, yeah, thanks for swinging by.

What was the spark that started Nothing Short of Everything?

Basically after Mochi Mayhem I was just really in love with all the characters and the story from the main game and DLC, and I kept getting ideas in my head for different story beats throughout Indigo Disk that wouldn't leave my head for the ship, but I've never written anything that had a focus on romance but decided to try it because I hadn't written anything for years at this point. Then it just kinda grew from there.

Posting it was more nerve wracking, because I was worried about what people would think because I was pretty much plonking an OC into Dipplinshipping but I got a bit of confidence after reading a bunch of other Dipplinshipping fics and I wanted to show off the story I'd been making. 💖

Is Phen a stand in for you (when you played the game)? Or was she originally & she’s evolved (heh, pun intended)? Or did you have an idea of her character when you started playing her?

Yes and no? Yes as in, I actually didn't have a proper name for her for the longest time so when I played through the game with her name as "Demi" but there was no factor of "I'm this protagonist so I'm gonna project my personality onto her" so she was essentially a blank slate for a long time, like it was after I finished the main game when I named her.

A lot of characterisation was done outside the game when I was properly planning the story, when I was thinking of certain scenes and how she would be reacting to the situations.

At the time I played Scarlet I did have pink hair though, so that's why she has pink hair. Her team is also based on my game team, though Aegirine was originally a Bellibolt and I had a shiny Mabosstiff called Spinel. I didn't want it to look like "special OC has shiny" so Spinel was cut from the team.
