Amura landed hard on the ground as she was shadow jumped to a different part of Lalotai. Normally she would have been able to catch herself if not for her still bleeding leg. Demith appeared a few feet away from her and attempted to help her up.
“Don’t touch me!” Amura snarled.
Demith quickly pulled away. “Amura I know you are mad but it wasn’t worth the treasure we were going to be paid.
Mad didn’t even begin to describe what she was feeling right now. She was down right furious with her mate. “You know nothing!” she spat as tears began to fall from her eyes and began limping away from him. This had nothing to do with treasure, not entirely for her at least.
A very young Amura growled as she wrestled playfully with her two sisters Kuma, and Oma as thier mother Mirith watched them proudly. She had high hopes they would grow into powerful and skilled warriors of the ocean just as she was. She was well known by the dragons of Avalor as one of the fiercest water dragons in existence. She was so focused on her children that she hadn’t notice a human enter her home until a strange blast of energy struck her. Mirith roared in pain and anger as she quickly got to her feet and charged. Water spiraled out in front of her and slammed into the human forcing him out of her home. She wasn’t one to let this offense go without repercussions. She gave a second roar ordering her children to hide in the nearby lake until the fight was over. She did not want them getting hit by a stray shot.
The young dragons obliged.... well all except for Amura. She wanted to watch her mother succeed in this fight. She hid behind a nearby tree as she watched the two exchange blows but while her mother primarily relied on her great strength and control over water, the human relied on some kind of magic that was almost blinding to look at. On top of that he was very quick and agile compared to the massive dragon. The strange magic was doing damage and her mother appeared to be weakening. But that wasn’t right, her mom was the best. How was this puny human doing this to her mother and more importantly why? She hadn’t done anything to him, he had just attacked for no reason, or so she thought. His intentions were made clear when she managed to get a hold and bite his arm but one of blasts struck her square in the chest. The dragon collapsed to the ground. Amura gasped in shock. She could see her mother was still breathing but she had been defeated. She was about to run to her mother’s aid but before she could the human spoke in a strange language that sounded dark and sent shivers down her spine. All at once her mothers body began to glow and as the glow began to flow into the humans hand. Mirith began to scream out and thrash in agony. Amura could only watch frozen with fear and horror until the screaming stopped and her mother went limp. She was only able to force herself to move after the human disappeared.
Amura screamed and begged for her mother to wake up as she shook her to no avail. Tears streamed down the little dragon’s face. Mirith was dead. It was only after his sisters finally returned and went to get help that she learned her mother’s soul had been stolen to make something called a dragon hearth. It would apparently allow its wielder to user her mothers power and assume her form. Even if they managed to get it back they could not bring their mother back to life. The three young dragons had no family to turn to now. They were all alone.
