Thank you! You’re too sweet asdfghjkl
****
His eyes watch your every movement, as they have been for the past hour. You move through the club fluidly, talking to people, hanging onto your friends. Calum knows he shouldn’t be jealous about the way you’re gripping the human you call ‘Luke,’ but Calum can’t help himself.
He sips his drink, leaning back against the bar. He supposes this isn’t the worst place he could be on a Saturday night. You look stunning, you always do, but tonight you’ve dressed up.
It’s someone’s birthday, you’d told Calum a name but he hadn’t bothered to remember it. His job is to watch you, not to learn your friend's names. But Luke? Calum has been watching Luke lately.
Luke exudes happy energy that makes Calum want to gag, he’s always happy, with a halo of golden curls that make him look too much like an angel for Calum to be comfortable.
And the way you grab Luke... something about it is different tonight. You’re clutching his arm tightly, as if you need him to stay steady.
Calum’s supposed to be the one steadying you, after all, he’s the demon who’d been summoned to take care of you because you’re of ‘special interest’ to his boss, whatever that means.
Calum stiffens when Luke drags you onto the dance floor, anger bubbling inside his already fiery soul. He’s on edge, waiting, waiting... Luke leans down as if he’s about to kiss you and that’s when Calum jumps into action, quickly entering the crowd to grab you and tear you away from the blonde.
You and Luke both look at your stoney faced protector with wide eyes, “Calum-” you start to argue with him, but the demon grabs your arm, tearing you away from Luke and off the dance floor, “Calum stop!” you tell him, struggling in his grip.
No one makes a move to help you, after all, Calum has a reputation, even amongst humans. People are always able to tell there’s something off about him, a predatory aura that keeps everyone at an arms length.
He takes you through a back door and into an alleyway, finally releasing your arm- only to throw you against a wall, pressing you into it with his body. He cages you in with his hands on either side of you, keeping you exactly where he wants you. “what the fuck was that?” he growls, eyes nearly fully black with rage.
For the first time ever with Calum, you feel scared. He may be a demon, but you know he’s supposed to protect you, not doing whatever this is.
“what do you mean?” you nearly whimper under his gaze.
“You and that Angel looking douche, you were going to let him kiss you.” Calum tells you, encroaching more into your space. You’re not sure where to look, his dark eyes, his plump lips- “tell me.” Calum growls, grabbing your chin with one hand, “you were going to let him kiss you.”
“yes.”
“but baby,” the pet name should sound sweet, but on his lips it doesn't, “don’t you know you’re mine?”
Summary: Demon Cal is assigned to watch you and he finds himself drawn to you, even though you’re infuriating.

standing in your kitchen cooking dinner alone was solace. soft music played from a speaker and you stood over the pan that you were cooking in, phone in one hand as you scrolled through social media.
something changed in the room and goosebumps appeared over your skin, you almost jumped when a hand settled on the left side of your waist as an arm reached past you on the right, turning down the temperature of the stove, “you trying to fucking burn your meal?” a voice growled in your ear.
you stood frozen, hyperaware of the body that had appeared behind you from thin air. he stood there for a few moments and your heart rate picked up, not sure exactly what he was doing.
then his hand was gone and you let out a breath as he walked around to the other side of the island table, kicking out a chair with his boot and sitting down in it. his ring clad fingers splayed over the counter.
“what are you doing here?” you asked, voice unsteady and weak.
Calum grinned, loving how pathetic your words sounded on your lips, “spotted a few demons around, figured i’d come protect the merchandise.” he paused, eyes looking you up and down, “imagine my surprise when i got here to find you this close” he held up two fingers, “to burning your whole fucking apartment down.”
“at worst i would have burned the food.” you said, looking down as to not meet his eyes.
“could have burned yourself. you humans are so weak. you hurt so easily. it’s pathetic really.”
you focused on cooking your food, trying to ignore the demon sitting in front of you. with every movement, you felt his eyes on you.
turning off the heat of the stove you put some food on your plate, opting to eat it while standing as opposed to taking a seat next to Calum. his grin widened. you’d only known him about a month but if one thing was certain, it was that Calum took immense pleasure in how much he scared you.
you could have sworn that he did things to purposefully get your heart beating faster. unnecessary things that never failed to bring a grin to his face.
“whats wrong Kitten? you afraid i’ll bite?” he smirked, kicking out another chair for you, “please, come sit.” his tone was welcoming but you knew not to trust anything he said.
“i’m okay here.”
“i don’t think you heard me correctly,” he said, voice going lower as he leaned forward, smile gone, “come and sit here. now.”
you sighed, walking around the island to the chair he had moved out for you. you perched on the edge of it, as far from Calum as you could. he turned his entire body to face you as one of his feet hooked around the leg of your chair, pulling your chair, and you, towards him until you were less than a foot away.
he stared at you, “eating. what a waste of time.” he stated, watching you chew.
“how do you get energy?” you asked, focusing on your food.
“i feed off of fear baby, why do you think i like you so much?” he leaned in closer and you could feel his breath on the side of your neck, “it just radiates off of you. it’s delicious.” you could hear him liking his lips and for a second you thought about what it would be like if he decided to lick your neck instead. he chuckled and in that moment you legitimately feared that he was a mind reader.
you stood up abruptly and he laughed again, watching you go put your plate near the sink, “i’m going to sleep.” you stated.
“no you’re not. it’s only eight.”
“i’m really tired.” you lied.
“no you’re not.” he stood up, pulling off his leather jacket as he threw it onto the couch. you tried not to look but you couldn't help yourself as you took in the plain white t-shirt, sleeves short and showing off the black tattoos that littered his arm. “don’t try to lie to me kitten. i always know.”
it was true. you’d never successfully lied and it was unlikely that you ever would.
“well... then i’m going out.” you stated, crossing your arms over your chest.
“with demons in the area? no fucking way Princess.”
“well if you leave, maybe there won’t be demons in the area.” you suggested.
he scowled at you, “you talking back to me kitten?” his shoulder squared as he took a step towards you, you taking one back. before you knew it, he was directly in front of you, your back against the counter as his hands settled on either side of you, caging you in. his eyes met yours and you tried to meet his gaze with confidence but you ended up faltering and looking down.
he laughed, “that’s what i thought.”
he pulled away, “now sit on the couch where i can see you.”
------
he was shocked that you’d managed to fall asleep. most nights, you would force yourself to stay awake as long as he was there. sometime’s he’d stay longer than necessary just to fuck with you and enjoy the taste of fear in the air.
and yet there you were. it was the first time he’d ever seen you look peaceful.
he had noticed you had been exhausted recently. and an odd part of him cared. something he didn’t really understand but at the end of the day, he credited the slight protectiveness he felt to the fact that it was his job. he was assigned to keep you alive.
why? he had no idea. he wasn’t high enough to know that sort of information, just high enough to be assigned your protection and that was it.
He sat up abruptly and his sudden motion on the couch made you wake up as you blinked at him. he stared at your apartment door. “what is it?” you groaned.
“shut up.” he hissed, standing.
you noticed how alert he was and you shook the sleep from your eyes. he was usually lazy or dominating, but you’d never seen that look in his eyes before. his back was completely straight.
thats when you heard foot steps in the hallway outside. Cal came over to you, grabbing his leather jacket from the chair, you noticed how silently and quickly he moved. “Fire escape.” he stated, pushing you towards the window and opening it for you. he made you climb out first and as he followed you heard your front door get kicked in but by then he was dragging you down the metal staircase.
you reached the bottom, a ladder ready to slide to the ground below but when Calum kicked it, it stayed still. he cursed under his breath, “its broken.” he stated, eyes looking and judging how far the jump would be.
he knew he could make it. but he wasn't sure about you.
“okay, i’m going to hold you and jump.” he said.
“what-” you began to protest when his arms wrapped around you, pulling you against his hard chest as he jumped from the fire escape. a small scream left your lips but the fall didn’t last long and then he was grabbing your hand and dragged you.
your foot stepped in a rain filled pothole and you winced as the water splashed over your legs. it was cold out and the rain wasn’t helping any.
Calum suddenly slammed your body against a wall and his hand covered your mouth. you could feel the cold of his silver rings and you shivered, eyes looking at his face while he looked around the corner.
your body shook and his eyes snapped to you. your arms were wrapped around your torso, the pyjamas you were wearing were obviously thin and already half soaked through with rain.
“fucking humans.” Calum grumbled as he removed his hand from your mouth, tearing off his leather jacket and holding it out, “put your arms through the holes.” he instructed, rushing you by clicking his tongue restlessly as he helped you get the jacket on.
it was too big on you and the sleeves were too long and Calum groaned as you tried to get a hand through the long sleeve for him to grab. when your hand finally appeared he grabbed it hard and pulled, leading you down another alley.
his pace was fast and his grip was iron tight on your hand. he stoped every once and a while, looking around corners. it was dark and you couldn’t see much but obviously Calum could. you assumed he had demon vision or something.
You could tell he had determined that the two of you were far enough from your apartment for you to be safe because he finally slowed down. “where do we go now?” you asked as he finally let go of your hand, you rubbed the area he had been holding onto.
“don’t ask questions.” he stated, “now can you walk by yourself or do i need to drag you again?”
you crossed your arms over your chest and he nodded, turning and expecting you to follow as he walked down the street. you only walked a few blocks and arrived at a large building. you assumed it’s where he lived, and it wasn’t dodgy or dirty like you half expected it to be. there was even a key pad to get in to the lobby area. it had a lobby.
as Calum opened the door for you and ushered you inside impatiently, he waved at the man sitting behind the lobby desk. “hey Cal.” the guy smiled, eying you.
Calum lived in a fancy apartment building and knew the doorman? who even had a nick name for him?
Calum’s hand on the small of your back pushed you into the elevator and he hit the top button. you moved to stand close to the wall, trying not to look at the gorgeous man beside you.
his white shirt was soaked through and you could see the ridges on his abdomen, the strength in his large shoulders, and more black markings littering his chest and collar bones.
he looked forward, a muscle in his jaw feathering.
“so this whole danger thing is real.” you stated.
“of fucking course it is.” he grumbled, fists clenching at his sides, “as if i’d be able to stand your company if it wasn't.”
you looked down, fidgeting with the long sleeves of his leather jacket. you felt tear begin to well in your eyes and you hoped that he wouldn't notice. you hoped he’d think they were just water from the rain dripping from your hair.
the elevator doors opened and Calum pushed you out, going to a door and opening it with a key, he forced you inside. when the door closed behind him he looked you up and down, “don’t get water everywhere.” he said, roughly taking the leather from around you.
thats when he looked up at your face and paused for a moment. you looked down, and then his fingers were under your chin, forcing you to look up at him as his eyes searched your face, “are you crying?” he asked, a disgusted look on his face.
you rolled your eyes, sniffling and pulling your face from his hand, “no.”
“pff.” Calum sighed, “bathroom is down the hall, go have a shower and wash away those pathetic tears.”
your head slumped down as you walked down the hall, smiling slightly at the water trail you were leaving on the marble floor. it was a lavish apartment, that was for sure.
the bathroom was beautiful and white, with marble and lots of mirrors, a huge closed in shower and a Jacuzzi tub. you locked the door behind you as you turned on the shower, shedding your soaking wet clothes.
it felt odd being in a demons bathroom. but you were shivering and as soon as the water was hot enough you stepped in, almost groaning at the feeling. there was shampoo and some masculine looking body wash that you picked up to smell. it definitely reminded you of Calum so you set it down.
you finished up your shower, not wanting to be naked in Calum’s bathroom any longer than you had to be. the towels were easy enough to fine and you dried off, wrapping it around your body. you opened the door to the bathroom, peaking out.
your eyes went to your wet clothing on the floor. you weren’t about to put it back on. gripping the towel tighter around your body you stepped out of the bathroom, walking back down the hallway to the main living room kitchen area.
Calum was standing in front of the floor to ceiling windows. his back was to you and he had changed into sweatpants and another loose T-shirt but it stretched tight across his muscular shoulders. one of his hands hung loosely by his side, holding a glass of dark liquid, you assumed liquor.
the whole apartment was modern and minimalist. a shag carpet and two big couches, an open concept kitchen with marble table tops that matched the floor. lots of white, accentuated by the dark furniture and black and white art on the walls.
“you just going to stand there?” he asked, back still to you as he took a sip of his drink.
“i need clothes.” you stated.
he turned, eyes dragging up and down your body as you gripped the plush towel tighter. “right.” he said. walking past you. you followed as he led you to his room.
it also had a wall of floor to ceiling windows with a beautiful view of the city. the largest bed you’d ever seen sat in the centre and Calum showed you to a walk in closet, opening a drawer he pulled out a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie, handing them to you.
without another word he left the room and you made sure he was gone before removing your towel and pulling on the clothes. they completely dwarfed you as you reentered the main room, “how long do i have to stay here?” you asked.
“i don’t know.” he answered, still looking out at the city.
you could tell he was uncomfortable with you being there. the muscles in his back looked tense and knotted, you almost wanted to rub them and relieve the stress but you pushed the thought away. he sipped his liquor, refusing to look at you.
“i want to thank you-”
“dont.”
you sighed, leaning against the wall, “its a nice place.” you stated finally.
he stayed silent. you picked at the sleeves of his hoodie.
“why do you have a kitchen?” you asked, “i thought eating was for the weak.”
he finally turned to look at you, eyes looking over your body, “what i eat’s gotta eat doll.” he stated, “besides it came with the apartment.”
you thought about what he’d just said for a few moments. was he talking about eating fear or... was he talking about something else.
you felt your heart skip a beat in your chest thinking about Calum possibly getting dirty with someone in this apartment. he scared the shit out of you but you had to admit he was gorgeous. you’d have to be blind not to think so.
and although he scared you, you had to admit you’d thought about it.
hell, you’d dreamt about it. part of you wondered if he’d be as good as in your dreams, or better.
Calum’s eyes practically undressed you as he brought his glass to his lips, taking a sip and enjoying the burn of it as it went down his throat. he had to admit to himself that you were cute. he’d always thought so. but in his clothes... well, that was something else.
his eyes scanned your hands, the way they nervously picked at the sleeves that were too long, opting to bunch the fabric into your fist. you stood on one foot as you rubbed the front of your other foot against the back of your heel, another anxious thing you seemed to do sometimes.
“you still look like shit.” Calum stated, turning to look out the skyline again.
“i’m exhausted.” you muttered.
“there’s a bed in the other room.”
you felt your heart lurch, “but... that’s your room.”
“it’s also the only bed.”
“i can sleep on the couch.”
“the sun will wake you up in a few hours here.” another sip of his drink, “bedrooms better.”
“where will you sleep?” you asked.
“don’t need much sleep.”
you couldn’t think of something else to say and it was obvious he wasn’t interested in talking so you turned and walked down the hallway to the bedroom.
you walked around the room before going to stand in front of the large windows. the city looked so beautiful. lights sparkling in darkness. you could see there were blinds that could come out of the ceiling to block off the large windows but you couldn’t figure out how to get them to come down.
“figured you’d be snooping.”
whipping around to find Calum leaning in the doorway you groaned, “i’m not snooping. i’m trying to find out how to get the blinds to come down.”
his arms were crossed and his biceps were bulging, straining against his shirt. he was intimidating and you thought about what it would be like to be in his room under different circumstances.
“there’s a remote than controls the blinds. bed side table.” Calum stated, eyes following you as you hesitantly walked over to find the remote. it was the only thing in the drawer and you studied the buttons for a moment before pressing one, the blinds silently appearing and sliding down to cover the windows.
he continued to watch you as you went to sit on his bed. it was massive and the sheets were black and silky against your hands. you could feel his eyes on you, “i feel weird sleeping here.” you admitted.
“don’t.” he said, pulling away from where he had been leaning on the wall, he flipped the light switch, “you’re not afraid of the dark are you?” he asked.
“no.”
he turned to leave, “you should be.”
--------
the silk under your fingers felt foreign as you took a deep breath, shaking the sleep from your head as you blinked at the darkness. the smell of your surroundings flooded your senses. something smokey and masculine.
your eyes snapped open when you remembered where you were, hand reaching for the remote to make the blinds go up as your heart raced in your chest.
as the blinds moved up and the light that flooded in revealed the room, you began to calm down, realizing you were alone. part of you was worried you’d wake up to find Calum watching you. after all, you were in his apartment. and you knew he liked doing things to set you off. this seemed like the perfect opportunity and yet he was nowhere in sight.
you stood as quietly as you could, walking over to the door that was slightly ajar. it opened without making a noise as you peaked your head out. still not seeing him, you exited the room, staying close to the wall as you held your breath and approached the main living room kitchen area.
Calum was standing by the windows again and your heart caught in your throat.
he had a fluffy white towel wrapped around his waist. his shoulders were broad and beautiful, glistening slightly with water droplets. his hair was still damp. dark black and curling slightly against the nape of his neck.
“thought you were going to sleep all day.” he said, turning to look at you.
you tried not to look. you really did. but your eyes immediately went down to look at his exposed chest. he looked like he was hand sculpted by some renaissance artist who was attuned to fine details.
he was absolutely stunning.
it was downright sinful. for someone as beautiful as him to be such an asshole.
you tore your eyes away from him as he walked towards you. you hunched your shoulders to appear smaller as he moved past you and down the hall to his bedroom. you heard the click of the door behind him.
had he been waiting for you to wake up to get clothes? had he actually avoided waking you up? was this an act of kindness?
you brushed the thoughts away, going to the kitchen and opening the fridge. it was empty except for a few bottles of expensive looking alcohol and directly in the centre of the fridge was a take out box from your favourite restaurant.
it looked out of place. the only food in the fridge.
you looked towards the bedroom where the door was still closed. then you reached in and pulled out the food box, closing the fridge as you sat the box on the kitchen counter.
as you opened it, part of you already knew what it would be but it still shocked you to find it was your order. the order you’d been getting from your favourite place for months.
for some reason your heart swelled in your chest. Calum’s bed room door opened and he walked out, dressed in his usual leather and black ripped jeans combination. his gaze landed on you and the take out box, “can’t say i’m surprised Snoopy.” he said, walking into the kitchen as he pulled out a wallet from his back pocket. a hundred dollar bill was dropped onto the counter, “if you get hungry again call for delivery.”
“where are you going?” you asked.
“to check out your apartment.” Calum answered.
“can I come?”
he laughed as if it was the dumbest question in the world, “fuck no.”
“well... am i safe here? i mean... shouldn’t i be with you?” you asked.
Calum sighed, looking up at you, “do i make you feel safe?”
you opened your mouth to lie but then shut it.
“they almost got you last night.” he stated, “they came pretty fucking close. because it took time to get you out of there. because you don’t trust me. you don’t like me and you never fucking listen to my instructions.”
his voice was low and you moved backwards, he took notice.
“see?” he growled, “i won’t pretend that i don’t... love the fact that you’re scared of me. but you need to trust me more. so you’re staying here until we get this situation under control.”
“what? no-”
he took a step towards you, “what did i say about you not listening to my instructions?”
you closed your mouth.
“there are three other Demons that live on this floor. Luke, Ashton and Michael. if you try to leave, they will stop you. if you call someone and step even a toe out of line, they will know, and they will call me. if you so much as order a pizza I will know. anything you order will be screened by them first to make sure it’s safe. do you understand?”
“yes.”
Calum’s eyes lingered on you and he sighed, “what do you need from your apartment?”
“my phone, some clothes, a laptop maybe?” you answered.
he nodded, “don’t be trouble.”
“i’m not the demon here.”
“touche Snoopy.”
for the first time ever, he smiled. a genuine smile. yes, it was slightly teasing and it had of course been paired with his new nickname for you, but it was new. and by god, was he breathtaking.
you watched him leave, locking the door behind him.
since he was already calling you snoopy, you decided to live up to the name, walking around the apartment with your take out in your hands as you looked at everything. you finally sat down on the couch, turning on the TV. you were surprised to find a Netflix account.
it took about two seconds for you to decide to look at what Calum was watching. your eyes scanned the shows on his recently watched list. it seemed erratic. cooking shows, conspiracy theories, even a few half watched Disney movies
part of you wondered if these were things he’d actually watched.
you found a TV show and began watching, hoping to pass time. about two episodes in there was a loud sound in the hallway and you immediately paused the show. running to the kitchen to grab a knife before going to the door, peaking out the peak hole.
a massive blonde guy had a girl pressed against the wall next to the elevator. his hand was around her throat and at first you were worried, until he bent down and kissed her. her arms wrapped around his shoulders and one of his hands went down to grab her ass. she screamed a little and you realized it had been her scream that pulled you from your show
the elevator dinged and the doors opened and the blonde pulled away from the girl, she whined but he just grinned, turning her by the shoulders and patter her ass to make her enter the elevator. he smiled at her.
as soon as the elevator doors closed his smile disappeared and he turned, staring directly at your door, “fucking rude to watch things you’re not supposed to see!” he called.
you jumped away from the door. there was something about these Demons. they always seemed to know when you were watching. which wasn’t fair because they always seemed to have their eyes on you.
a knock at the door made your heart freeze, “let me in.” the guy’s voice said.
you sighed, slowly turning the handle and pulling the door open, holding the knife in your hand, grip tight.
the guy waltzed in, “nice knife, it’s cute.” the guy stated, closing the door behind him, “You’re Y/N.”
“and you’re...”
“Luke.” he walked past you into the kitchen, opening the fridge and grabbing a beer. you watched as he simply tore the cap off, no need for a bottle opener or anything, “so you’re the human who’s been driving Calum insane all month.”
“i guess that would be me.” you said, still holding your knife.
“i can see what he means about you being delicious.” Luke stated, leaning back against the counter as his eyes moved up and down, “the fear is just radiating off of you, it’s kinda distracting... as is the knife. put it down Sweetheart or you’ll hurt yourself.”
you studied him. he was absolutely angelic. his golden blonde hair was curly and his eyes were crystal blue. his tall frame was broad shouldered and he was wearing a dark red silk button up that was unbuttoned enough to show off his chest that was criss crossed with two gold necklaces.
he grinned as you slowly set the knife down, “so tell me Sweetheart. what’s a girl like you, doing in a Demon’s apartment? what could you possibly have done to end up here?”
“some people broke into my apartment-”
“don’t be stupid. before that. what got Cal assigned to you?” Luke rolled his eyes.
“I don’t know.”
------
Calum’s fingers brushed over the clothes. he wondered if they smelt like you. like his bed had that morning. he picked at some fabrics he recognized, things he’d seen you in that he’d taken notice of.
he threw stuff into the small suitcase along with a few other necessities. other than a broken door, your apartment was fine. the demons had obviously been there for you and nothing else. but you couldn’t come back and that was obvious.
his phone dinged and Calum cussed, grabbing the suitcase and leaving. the suitcase went in the trunk of his old, black muscle car and he drove home, parking in the underground before taking the elevator up to his apartment.
when Calum got there and opened the door his eyes immediately landed on Luke who was sitting on the couch with you. as soon as the door opened you stood and turned. Calum’s eyes landed on the knife you were holding, he let out a sigh of something like relief, “cute knife.”
“thats what i said.” Luke grinned lazily, “she put it down for a bit but picked it up again when we moved to the couch, i told her she didn’t need it but she didn’t believe me.”
“what are you doing here? i thought this was an emergency.” Calum glared.
Luke raised his hands in mock self defence, “just keeping Y/N company.”
“so you’re on a first name basis now?” Calum asked, fists clenching at his sides.
Luke stood up from the couch, approaching Calum with a sly smile, “yeah, because unlike you, i’m approachable.”
Calum’s teeth gritted. it was something he couldn’t contend with. Luke was known for this sort of thing. people were always drawn to Luke and his angelic face. it had never bothered Calum before but for some reason this did.
you were his responsibility. not Luke’s.
He was supposed to be the one gaining your trust. not Luke... even though technically Luke hadn’t managed that either.
“well you can go now.” Calum stated.
“aw, no movie night?” Luke whined, face looking distressed for a moment before he decided not to follow through with the mock whining as he grinned, eyes flashing black, “don’t worry Cal,” he leaned in as he walked past, “she’s still more terrified of you.”
Calum’s eyes slid over to you, still holding the knife. Luke left and the door shut behind him. Calum clenched his jaw, kicking over the rolling suitcase, “here’s your shit. change into something else. want my hoodie back.”
you slowly walked towards him and a sudden burst of anger overcame him as you kept the knife in your hand, “give me that.” he growled, grabbing it from you. the blade nicked his arm slightly and a trickle of black blood dripped down his arm but he didn’t react.
your eyes immediately widened, not having meant to actually cut him.
“I’m so sorry-” you began.
Calum pushed you back against the kitchen counter, left hand on the tabletop to box you in while his right hand reached past you to put the knife in the sink.
you moved back, but he still pressed against you. the knife clanged as it landed in the sink and then his right hand came to rest on the counter, completely blocking you in.
he looked down at you, eyes searching yours.
“i don’t like that Luke was here.” he stated.
you blinked up at him, “he just walked in- besides, i thought you were okay with your friends being here while you were gone-”
he had been. but not anymore. and Calum didn’t want to explain himself. a muscle in his jaw feathered, “i changed my mind.”
“why?”
“you’re not in a position to ask questions.” he growled, voice the lowest you’d heard.
before you could even think the words left your mouth “what position am I in then?”
anyone else may have not taken your words sexually. but this was a demon. and more importantly, it was Calum.
his eyes scanned you again then they turned black and your breath caught, “not the right one.”
then his lips were on yours, one hand going up to lace in your hair, keeping your lips on his as he kissed your roughly. his lips sunk into your bottom lip as his tongue soothed the bite. you groaned slightly at the pain and he grinned, letting go of you so he could reach down and lift you up to be on the counter.
your legs wrapped around his waist as he grinded himself against you, lips capturing yours again. you whimpered as he pressed harder against you. you could feel the outline of his cock confined by jeans and it was making you impatient.
suddenly a ring clad hand was on your throat, “you humans are so fucking impatient.” he growled as his teeth moved to nip at your earlobe.
“please-” you whispered, hands hesitantly going to the hem of the bottom of his shirt to play with the fabric, fingers brushing a sensitive stripe of skin right above his belt.”
he let out a small groan, then collected himself, “going to have to beg better than that Kitten.”
he pulled away almost completely and you were about to whine when he grabbed your, His, sweatpants and tore them off. he dragged you to the edge of the counter and got down between your legs, teeth nipping at your inner thighs. your thighs rested on his leather clad shoulders.
you could feel his breath and you fell back against the counter, already shaking with need and he hadn’t even touched you yet. you tried not to think about who, or what, was causing your body to practically quake with pleasure from such little effort and the danger of it all made it even better.
even with him between your legs he terrified you. your heart was racing in your chest and your mind was hazy. all you could think about was Calum.
a soft, kitten lick made you moan loudly as he teased you.
you were still in his hoodie, bunched up at your waist and when you tried to reach out and grab Calum’s hair you realized the long sleeves were in the way. you fumbled to get them pushed up so you could tangle your fingers in his hair but before you could his mouth was fully on you.
his lips and tongue licked at you and sucked harshly and your moans got louder, finally able to get your fingers out of the sleeves to grab at Calum. you pulled at his hair and he groaned against you, the vibrations setting your whole body on fire.
as you were getting close he pulled away, “beg for it.” he stated.
your body shivered at the authority in his voice, “please, please i need-”
he smacked at your inner thigh, “you want.” he corrected.
“i want it so bad.” you said, following his lead.
two of his fingers slipped inside of you and the cold feeling of one of his chunky silver rings pushing into you made you whine. the rings added ridges as they moved.
Calum watched his fingers going in and out, adoring the needy, pathetic sounds you made. he’d always thought you were an innocent angel child but the noises you were making were downright sinful and he was eating them up.
“holy fuck.” you moaned.
he smirked, “i’m anything but holy baby.” his fingers moved faster, curling and hitting that spot that made you practically scream as you came on his fingers.
“sit up.” he instructed.
you were still shaking from post orgasm bliss but you forced yourself onto your elbows, finally sitting up as he stood fully in front of you.
he held his fingers in front of your mouth and you met his gaze as you opened, accepting the ring clad digits into your mouth. you sucked on them, swirling your tongue the chunky silver bands that wrapped around his long fingers while he watched you.
you were a vision.
sitting on the kitchen counter. practically glowing from your orgasm. an oversized hoodie half slipping off one of your shoulders, the sleeves too long and the fabric just covering your naked bottom half as you spread open and needy for him.
he could see your pulse in your neck. he could taste your aura in the air. it was intoxicating.
once he was sure his fingers were nice and clean he pulled them from your mouth, hands going to undo his belt while you reached out and pushed his leather jacket off his shoulders. then you toyed with the hem of his shirt and when the belt was undone he helped you pull it off before reaching out and discarding your hoodie.
this close you could see his muscles under the skin. your eyes took in every detail of the tattoos on his collar bones then took note of his arms, following down until you reached his tattooed hands that finished undoing his pants as he pulled them down and kicked them off.
his eyes focused on where he teased you before sinking inside, one hand going to your chest to push you back down onto the counter. the marble on your back was cold and you shivered slightly as he grabbed your hips, moving your entire body back and forth as he began to thrust in and out.
you moaned loudly when he moved one of your legs over his shoulders, the new angle hitting something inside of you that made your sinful sounds louder. his eyes watched you, the way your boobs bounced with every thrust.
he leaned forward slightly, hand going to your neck.
you reached up and held his wrist as his rings bit into the flesh of your neck. you couldn’t moan as loudly and your little whimpers were more choked out and higher pitched, back arching off the counter slightly.
Calum grinned down at you, pounding harder. he loved the control. he could feel your heart trying to pump blood to your brain, obstructed by his hand and the soft little gasps you were making were driving him wild. his grip tightened and your sounds cut off, your body shaking as you scratched slightly at his wrist.
he let up a bit and you took a deep breath, chest heaving as you whimpered again.
“so fragile.” Calum mused, letting out a small groan.
the sound was music to your ears. the feeling of him controlling your breath, of being completely in the palm of his hand, it was like nothing you’d ever felt. he was dangerous. probably the most dangerous guy who you’d ever been in the same room with, let alone kissed. and here he was, pounding into you so hard you could feel him in your abdomen, hand on your throat.
you wondered if he’d ever killed anyone before with his hands, wrapped around a throat like yours, and a surge of fear ran through your body.
he moaned louder this time, removing his hand as it came to rub your clit instead. you were still sensitive from his initial attack on your pussy so as he rubbed harsher your body jolted.
“oh my god.” you moaned loudly.
Calum almost laughed, adoring the way the prayer sounded leaving your mouth. adoring the irony.
he could feel you fluttering against him and he knew you were close again which only spurred him on to rub harder. he thought about making you wait to cum but looking down at you mixed with the feeling of you so tight and wet around him... he knew he was just as close.
as you clenched more and got closer, he went even harder. the hand on your hip dug unto the skin and he knew you’d bruise but he didn’t care.
the sound of you moaning filled the lush apartment, he’d never heard anything so close to the sound of angels in his life, and yet, in that moment, you were definitely a sinner.
your orgasm made him cum as well, as he threw his head back and moaned at the ceiling your whole body shook. he pressed harder on your clit. you reached out to grab at his arm in an effort to pull him away but his fingers stayed fixed to their work, causing shudders to erupt through your body.
“Calum.” you moaned, voice a pathetic whimper as your lower lip quivered from the overstimulation.
his head lolled down again as he pulled his hand away, slowing his last thrusts as he studied you.
you’d never called him by his name before.
he’d introduced himself at the start and it was obvious you knew his name, of course you did. but he’d never heard it slip from between your gorgeous lips before, especially not the way it did. so sinful and needy, your beautiful lips forming the name like a prayer that made electricity run across his skin.
your eyes were still closed as he moved your leg from over his shoulder, pulling away completely and leaving you laying on the table. he stood there for a moment, trying to decide what to do.
his eyes went to your neck, and waist, small bruises already forming against your delicate skin.
Calum left the room, walking to the bathroom as he turned on the water in his jacuzzi tub. he stood there, watching the water but his mind was occupied in thoughts of you.
he liked to use humans for sex. no, he loved it.
but you weren’t just a human were you?
he’d never let anyone sleep in his bed. women had tried, god knows they had.
and he’d never learned a womans favourite food, let alone went out and bought it for her while she slept... in his bed no less.
and above all: Calum Hood had never felt anything even resembling happiness when he thought of humans.
but, as the demon stood there, eyes on the filling jacuzzi, he realized he was smiling.
you were still catching your breath when you felt an arm slip under your shoulder and legs, your eyes snapped open as you were lifted from the counter, immediately grabbing onto Calum’s strong shoulders, “what are you doing?” you asked, looking up at him.
his eyes met yours briefly “trust me.” he stated.
his skin was warm under your hands and this close you could see the fine details of the marks on his collarbones.
the bathroom was filled with steam and he walked to the jacuzzi, slowly lowering you into the hot water. he turned and began to leave as you watched his shoulders, “thank you.” you called.
he remained silent, closing the bathroom door behind him as you sunk into the water, closing your eyes and trying to wrap your head around the whole situation.
--------
The three demons stood in Ashton’s kitchen.
Luke was on his third beer, hair a tangled mess, black silk sleeping shirt undone completely. he’d tried to catch up on the little amount of sleep he needed but just as he’d managed to fall asleep, the noises had awoken him. the sinful sounds had drawn all three demons to their doors, poking their heads out to see who was the ‘player of the day.’
Michael and Ashton had both been staring at Luke’s door, so when Luke opened it and peeked out, all eyes had turned to Calum’s apartment.
Ashton had been the first to laugh, but his phone had vibrated and his expression had changed.
“what is it?” Michael called, not much made Ashton look worried and yet he had been.
Ashton had invited them all to his apartment and there they were. the blue and white stripped shirt Ashton wore was tight against his biceps as his arms crossed over his chest. “i got a message from the boss.” he stated.
another loud moan drew their attention to the wall separating Ashton and Calum’s apartments.
“what did he want?” Michael asked, a lazy grin on his face.
“he says i’ve been assigned to protect Y/N as well.” Ashton stated.
Luke laughed loudly, “Cal will love that. i was over there earlier and he did not appreciate it.”
“does anyone else think this whole thing is kinda weird as fuck?” Michael interjected, “i mean... it was weird when Calum was assigned and now Ashton too?”
“yeah i was kinda wondering what the big deal about her was too.” Luke agreed, “apparently Y/N has no idea why she’s important either.”
they all stood there for a few moments as the sounds from Calum’s apartment died down.
“i probably shouldn’t tell the boss about Y/N and Calum.” Ashton sighed.
“it could be fun.” Luke pointed out, “seeing Calum get knocked down a peg.”
it was no secret that Luke was jealous of Calum.
Calum had always been the boss’s right hand man. he always got the best jobs and was rewarded quite well for his troubles. the other three were only slightly below Calum so they were used to being at the top as well but Luke was known for his jealousy. his need to be the best of the best, no matter who he needed to knock down to get to the top. it’s what had made him come so far.
“don’t be a dick.” Michael stated.
Luke shrugged, grinning as he took a sip of his drink, he’d always loved a little mayhem.
-----------
the feeling of your own clothes gave you comfort as you pulled on an outfit from what Calum had brought back from your apartment. you studied yourself in the bathroom mirror, neck bruised, lips puffy, eyes dazed.
when you opened the bathroom door you heard voices from the living room. one was Calum’s but the other was someone else's.
you moved slowly but as soon as you were at the end of the hallway and able to look into the living room two pairs of eyes landed on you.
the blonde was sitting across from Calum, his hair was curly and he had a nice jawline. he was definitely beautiful. in a different way from Calum. but beautiful nonetheless.
the man stood up, and so did Calum.
he approached you and held out a hand, offering a smile. you stood in shock as he shook your hand, “I’m Ashton. you’re Y/N?”
you nodded, eyes traveling to Calum who was watching you with a set jaw. his arms crossed over his broad chest and your breath caught, looking down to hide the flush that you felt running over your skin as your brain thought about what it had felt like when he’d made you cum.
“you’re a demon?” you said, voice quiet.
the blonde chuckled and the dimples that appeared on his face made his smile contagious, “yes. i’m a demon.”
“you’re... you’re not like Luke or Calum.”
again, his name on your lips made Calum feel a jolt of something like wonder as his grip on his own arms tightened, watching you interact with his friend.
“nah, i’m not like these assholes.” Ashton grinned, his fingers coming over to brush under your chin, “i’m the big guns.”
“liar.” Calum said, smirking almost fondly at him.
Ashton laughed again, “the boss thought Calum might need some help with you so that’s why i’m here.” he tried to explain to you, “for the time being at least.”
-------
it had been a week since Ashton was assigned to watch you. Calum had barely said two words to you. he was an ever silent presence, always close by but never close enough.
Ashton chatted easily and for the most part, seemed like any normal guy. but there was a fire in his eyes, something dangerous, that still kept you on edge.
you continued to sleep in Calum’s bed. you guessed Calum was sleeping on his couch and you assumed Ashton went home at night but you never caught either of them sleeping. you never saw either of them show a moments weakness.
Calum was obviously keeping you at a distance and although part of you yearned for him, you knew it was better to have space. as much space as could be offered in a one bedroom apartment. you were still trying to figure out what had even happened.
he hadn’t called you pathetic or teased you and part of you almost wished he would because hearing his voice was better than the silence.
being housebound was difficult. but as the week came to the end Calum finally said the first sentence he’d said to you in seven days “we think things have died down so you can leave the apartment now, but we both have to go with you.”
you immediately grabbed your coat, anxious to finally go out and taste the fresh air again. the two demons followed, “where are we headed?” Ashton asked as he opened the door for you.
“i don’t know yet.” you answered.
a door down the hallway opened and Luke walked out, arm wrapped around a gorgeous girl whose neck was marked up like a nothing you’d ever seen before. Luke’s eyes immediately narrowed as he spotted you, Calum and Ashton but a smile spread across his lips.
“look who it is! Calum fucking Hood, still a little lap dog I see.” Luke said, his angelic smile unfaltering as his words tore at Calum.
Calum’s fist clenched at his side. he was still angry about Luke’s stunt from the week before. Calum was very private about his apartment so knowing that Luke had imposed on it when he wasn’t home and then proceeded to toy with the girl Calum had been assigned to protect had rubbed Calum the wrong way.
“maybe if you stopped whoring around you’d get assignments.” Calum sneered between clenched teeth.
“i’ll definitely, keep that in mind.” Luke said, shoving the girl in front of him against the wall as his lips attached to hers.
you stood behind your two demon protectors, trying not to watch as Luke rubbed against the girl, fingers in her hair, making her moan as you all waited for the elevator.
as he moved to kiss her neck she turned her head, eyes locking with yours and she smirked, moaning loudly.
Ashton looked between you and the girl, grinning widely as the elevator dinged and the doors opened. Luke pulled away from the girl and she walked into the elevator. Ashton walked forward and went to stand next to her, “you guys coming?” he asked.
“we’ll wait for the next one.” Calum said, grabbing your arm and keeping you from walking into the elevator.
as the doors closed Ashton slammed the girl against one of the elevator walls and Luke chuckled, “she likes blondes.” he stated, “but i guess that’s not your type is it Y/N?” he turned to look at you and again you realized how freaking tall he was.
Calum reached out and pressed the down button again, ignoring Luke but Luke didn’t let up, stepping closer again, “unless you’re into demons in general.” he suggested, Calum’s fists clenching at his sizes, “you like it rough, Snoopy?”
as soon as Calum’s pet name for you left Luke’s mouth, Calum’s hand slammed into Luke’s face. Luke stumbled back slightly, laughing as he reached up and wiped some black blood from his busted lip. even with the small marring, the demon still looked angelic.
Calum flexed his hands, fingers extending as the black blood splattered bands glistened, “i’m going to say it once and never again. leave her alone.”
“whatever.” Luke turned and sauntered back into his apartment, slamming the door behind him.
-------
as the three of you arrived back at the apartment building to find a limo outside and Michael waiting for you, Calum knew that whatever the issue was, it wasn’t good. “boss wants to see you two,” Michael said, biting at one of his nails, a very non demonic behaviour he’d picked up the past few months, “uh, i’m going to take Y/N inside.”
Ashton didn’t even begin to question it, simply going to lean on the limo while Calum looked between you and Michael. he finally let out a breath, stepping away from you which you assumed meant he was okay with the situation.
you followed Michael into the apartment building and Calum waited until you were safely in the elevator then out of his view before he finally turned to the limo. Ashton opened the door and got in, Calum followed, door clicking shut behind him.
The boss sat there, Luke to his left as he scanned Ashton and Calum.
a smug grin was on Luke’s face as he leaned back, completely relaxed in his seat. his lip was a little busted still, not yet fully healed from the earlier altercation. the smile hurt, tugging on the tear in his skin, but Luke didn’t mind. he relished in the pain, too proud of himself to not be wearing his signature angelic grin.
“i must not have been clear when i assigned you to this.” the boss said, voice cutting through the silence, “when i said Y/N needed to be protected, i assumed it naturally followed, that i expected you not to sleep with her.”
Calum felt the air leave his lungs as his death glare turned to Luke but he kept his mouth shut, clenching his jaw to keep his anger in check.
“i did not think it was necessary to reveal the reasons for the protection detail.” the boss continued, “i see now, that must have been a mistake on my part. I assumed putting you on the case would reduce the risk of this sort of... altercation. you’ve let me down Calum.”
everyone waited for their turn to speak, Luke’s smile only getting bigger as Calum’s ego got kicked down a notch.
“Y/N is my daughter.” the boss stated, all the eyes in the limo going back to him, “her mother was an angel. we hid her as a child, sending her to live with a human family. but a month ago, one of my enemies discovered her.”
Luke’s grin faltered and Calum felt something like fear in his chest. but at the same time, it made sense, in an odd way. Calum had noticed the duality the night he’d fucked her on the kitchen counter. such innocence but such sin.
he’d been thinking about it all week. in fact, she’d been all he’d been able to think about. something he couldn’t quite put his finger on. but it made sense now.
and he was in deep shit.
“now that you know who she is, you must know why her protection is important to me. she doesn’t know who i am.” the boss continued.
Demons could be assholes but the higher up, older demons were known for an odd sense of loyalty. demon loyalty was hard earned but once gained, it was fixed and finite. Calum hadn’t heard of many demons having children, let alone with angels. in fact, he’d never heard of it. Demons weren't known for just going around and having children with people which told Calum that this angel, who ever she was, had meant something to his boss. and in turn, his child probably meant something as well. enough to merit protection.
“Calum you’re no longer assigned as my daughters protector.”
he had known it was coming. he had. but the words still hit him hard in the chest.
“Luke will be taking your place.”
Calum wanted to explode. he wanted to show Luke the true meaning of the word fear. he wanted to see the emotion in Luke’s crystal eyes as he beat the fire of hell out of him.
but instead, Calum sat in silence.
“Y/N will move to Ashton’s apartment until I find somewhere suitable for her to live.” the boss continued, “questions?” silence, “good, now get the fuck out of my limo.”
Calum got out first as the blondes followed. they all stood and waited for the limo to leave before erupting into chaos as Calum lunged at Luke. Ashton managed to grab him before his fist could connect with Luke’s face as Ashton fumbled to get Calum’s arms pinned behind his back but to no avail.
Ashton cussed as he managed to maneuver himself between Calum and Luke, “Calum stop!” he yelled, then looked at Luke, “and you better wipe that smug grin from your face before i let Calum remove it for you.”
Luke just laughed, unable to contain his joy in seeing Calum so angry, “look Cal, i took your advice and stopped whoring around, now i have a job. your job. because you couldn’t keep your dick in your pants.”
it was a low blow, especially from a hypocrite like Luke. Calum had never, never let anything get in the way of a job. if anyone would let his dick get in the way of properly doing a job, it was Luke.
the growl that emitted from Calum’s chest made Ashton’s grip on the front of his shirt tighten, “don’t even think about it.” Ashton warned.
Calum weighed his options, finally smacking Ashton’s hand away as he walked back into the apartment building, entering the elevator and hitting the top button. the doors weren’t closing fast enough so he pushed the button a few more times, slamming his fist into the wall when they finally shut and the lift moved up.
the metal elevator door caved in slightly where his fist had collided with the solid surface due Calum’s demon strength.
when the elevator stopped, Calum went to his apartment, opening the door to find you and Michael sitting in the living room, Michael was showing you some memes on his phone and you actually looked relaxed for the first time all week.
“leave.” he stated, glaring at Michael.
“uhh....” Michael stood up, “where are Luke and Ashton?”
“they’ll be up in a minute, fucking get out of my apartment.” Calum instructed, voice low.
you watched him, mouth slightly open. you’d never seen him this angry before.
fists clenched, shoulders hunched slightly under his leather jacket, chest heaving, jaw set... it scared you a little, but you also felt drawn to him. you felt the need to go and sooth him, run your hand in circles on his beautiful back or pet his beautiful curls, but you stayed seated, watching what Michael would do.
Michael finally sighed, “fine, calm down mate.”
Calum’s eyes turned to you as Michael left, closing the door behind him.
“what’s wrong?” you asked, finally standing.
Calum let out a frustrated sigh, running a hand through his hair, “you make me so fucking angry.” he stated, turning, he rested his hands on the kitchen counter, leaning over as his head bowed, “i’ve made a name for myself. i worked hard to get where i am. and then you fucking show up with your wide eyes and innocent little gasping sounds and at first i thought it was hilarious, the fear radiating off of you.” he straightened, turning to look at you again, “and the moment you said something even remotely sinful, fuck!” he cussed, kicking a chair that went skidding across the room, “the moment there was something so easily corruptible-” he approached you, hand coming up to intertwine in your hair, “i couldn’t fucking help myself.”
you looked up at the demon in front of you. that was the most he’d said to you at one time. ever. he was coming undone in front of you. the usual uninterested eyes where alight with something you’d never seen before, they studied you, vulnerable as he waited for you to say something.
“Calum-” you began but were cut off by a laugh.
“fuck. even the way you say my name.” his grip in your hair tightened to be almost painful and you let out a small sound as he leaned even closer, lips ghosting over yours, “makes me want to fuck you so hard you’re screaming it so the whole apartment knows who makes you feel as good as i do.”
your heart raced in your chest as your fingers hesitantly came up to play with his belt, teasing the sensitive skin near the hem of his shirt. you needed him unlike anything you’d ever needed in your life.
“fuck it.” he growled as he attached his lips to yours, you moved your hands to pull him closer as his lips slid over yours, sucking roughly at your bottom lip and eliciting a moan from you.
his hands moved to your ass as he bent down slightly, lifting you as your legs wrapped around his waist, hands moving to his strong shoulders as his teeth nipped at you.
your back hit a wall as he pushed you against it, grinding against you which had you both moaning loudly into each others mouths.
the sound of his apartment door opening made you pull away as his lips moved to your neck, ignoring the intruders.
“stop whoring around Hood.” Luke’s voice cut through the room.
Calum’s fingers dug unto your thighs as his lips stopped. you could hear the rumble of his chest as he practically growled, resting his face against your neck before pulling away and setting you down but moving you to stand behind him.
“what’s happening?” you asked, realizing Calum had yet to explain to you why there’d been a limo earlier.
“Calum’s not assigned to you anymore.” Ashton said, walking down the hallway to the bedroom to collect your suitcase.
Luke stared at you and Calum with a grin, leaning in the doorway, arms crossed.
you grabbed at Calum’s arm but he wouldn’t look at you.
Ashton came back into the room, “this is all your stuff?”
“yeah-”
“Y/N, Calum’s mad right now but i need you to come with me.” Ashton coaxed you, holding out a hand but refusing to get closer to the raging brunette.
you’d never thought that you’d be in a position where you would have rather stayed with Calum. but there you were, feeling safe behind his broad, leather clad frame.
you knew Ashton was asking now, but by the looks of things, it wasn’t a request. the things these demons said were always orders, they were in control. you’d yet to see Ashton’s bad side and part of you was worried what it would look like.
Luke stayed by the door. he was relishing the whole situation but part of him still knew not to test Calum too much because in a fight, Calum had the upper hand and Luke valued his face too much.
you stepped around Calum, going to take Ashton’s hand which wrapped firmly around yours when Calum grabbed your other hand. you all looked to him and he sighed, “this isn’t forever.” he stated, “i promise.”
his warm touch slipped away as his hand let go, falling back to his side as Ashton dragged you towards Luke and the door.
Ashton’s apartment was more inviting than Calum’s but it still didn’t feel right. he showed you around as Luke stood in the kitchen, pulling out a bottle of tequila, disinterested in the situation.
“Ashton, please,” you said, finally pulling your hand from his as he showed you to the bedroom, “what’s happening? why me? why-”
“be quiet for a moment.” Ashton interrupted you. he looked at the floor, running a hand through his messy curls as he thought about what to say. the boss hadn’t specified whether or not they could disclose the information about him being your father. Ashton supposed if it was important, he would have mentioned it, “you’re half demon.” he stated.
“what?” you almost laughed, “no, that’s impossible-”
“you’re half angel.” Ashton continued, “the dual relationship of angelic and demonic keep you fairly neutral, making you appear human.”
you sat down on the bed, processing the news. Ashton made no effort to make you feel better, he simply watched as everything you thought you knew about the world crumbled around you.
when you didn’t say anything, he simply left, going to join Luke in the kitchen, “Calum was pissed.” Luke grinned, taking a shot.
Ashton sighed, “why did you have to make this such a mess?”
Luke shrugged, “thought it would be funny. and it was. besides, we’re demons. whats the fun in life without a little mayhem?”
------
Calum sat down on his bed, looking at the slightly bunched up sheets. he laid down, grabbing some of the fabric in his hands as he brought it to his face, breathing in the smell of you.
it wasn’t something he’d ever appreciated before.
in fact, there was a lot he hadn’t appreciated until you were gone.
he could sense you, in the apartment next to his, and even though nothing but a few walls separated you, it felt like you were farther.
as he thought it over, things began to make sense. he’d always been able to feel where you were because of the slight demonic energy. so small he hadn’t noticed exactly what it was, but it had always been there, right in front of his eyes.
he felt stupid. looking at the wall, thinking about you on the other side, wondering what you were thinking.
he took another deep breath, letting your scent flood his senses as he picked up his phone. he usually wasn’t supposed to call the boss, but this was a situation he hoped would make up for it.
--------
another week passed but it felt longer.
living with Ashton and Luke was worse than living with Ashton and Calum.
yeah, Calum had ignored you most of it and you’d spent most of your time with Ashton. but at least Calum remembered that you needed food, and knew what to order for you. at least they both gave you space and didn’t complain.
Ashton and Luke seemed to forget you needed food most days and Ashton could never be bothered to remember what to order for you. you suggested that you could order for yourself but Ashton always said no, as if in some odd way, if he wasn’t doing everything for you, he wasn’t doing his job right.
and Luke was obviously bored. he’d spend the entire day drinking or poking fun at you. an ever intimidating presence. his eyes constantly watchful.
the only time you were ever at peace was when you went to sleep, at which point Luke would leave. within ten minutes you’d be able to hear the muffled sounds of women in Luke’s apartment, you wondered how many women he had on speed dial.
you’d gone out a few times, always expecting to bump into Calum in the hall, or see him open his door, but it remained closed.
your life had changed so much and you needed an escape. you needed to see your friends or... do something, anything, to distract you. from Calum. from your supposed demon father and angel mother. from Luke being a constant asshole and Ashton constant composure except for the danger lurking in his eyes.
when you exited Ashton’s bedroom, dressed for a night out, both Luke and Ashton looked up at you.
Luke laughed immediately, licking at his lips, “so thats what you’ve been hiding under your hoodies and sweatpants, gotta admit, Cal had the right idea when he threw you across the closest horizontal surface.”
Ashton ignored Luke, standing, “where are you going.”
“to a bar. i need to get out of here. and you said i could see my friends-”
his eyes practically devoured you and you slowed your words, watching as his eyes stared at your chest a moment too long. you took in his broad shoulders and strong arms, tattoos accentuating his size and you took a step back.
his eyes flickered up to yours and his happy mask appeared once more, “let me grab a jacket.”
he walked past you, brushing so close you could feel the heat of his skin.
meanwhile Luke stood, slinking off the couch like a lazy, feral cat as his predatory gaze landed on you, fingers buttoning up his green silk shirt that had been completely open moments before. “got any hot friends Snoopy?”
“don’t call me that.” you said, crossing your arms over your chest. when his eyes dipped down and his grin widened you realize it was only pushing your boobs up more so you quickly uncrossed them.
“Snoopy? aw,” he fake pouted, “you missing your Cal pal? does he make you feel all warm and squishy in your happy places pet?”
he stepped closer, looming over you with his staggering hight, his voice was low as one of his fingers pushed a strand of hair out of your face, “i’d be more than happy, to help you get his attention. not even Calum could control himself and avoid the sound of you screaming my name. and i bet you make the prettiest sounds pet.”
“leave her alone.” Ashton’s voice came from behind you as he appeared, tossing a jacket to Luke who easily caught it, eyes not leaving yours.
you took a step back and Luke grinned as you turned to Ashton. he looked happy and bright in a yellow shirt that showed the perfect amount of chest. you were once again hit by how beautiful all these demons were. it was quite unfair.
as you left Ashton’s apartment, your eyes were drawn to Calum’s door. it remained closed.
you’d noticed, from your frequent elevator rides, how much space Luke and Ashton encompassed. standing in the small confinement of the elevator, you always tried to press against the wall while they stood dead in the centre, all broad shoulders and intimidation.
“i think i should do it.” Ashton said.
“nah, it should be me.” Luke answered.
“she can’t stand you, at least i’ll look believable.”
“you’d be surprised i think, i’m quite the charmer,” Luke looked at you over his shoulder, winking.
you wondered what they were talking about but you thought it would be better not to ask, knowing them, they’d get to the point eventually.
“you just want an excuse to have your hands on her.” Ashton sighed finally.
Luke shrugged, “just trying to do my job.” a lie.
“we’ll figure it out when we get there.” Ashton said as the elevator stopped and you all got out.
the bar was close, only a few blocks away. the street wasn’t big enough for all three of you to walk next to each other and, much to your disappointment, Ashton walked ahead, leaving you next to Luke. his eyes trailed over everything you walked past, lingering on pretty girls and even turning his head to watch them with a smirk, catching their eyes.
you felt bad for girls who blushed and looked down, alight from the attention of such a gorgeous man. if only they knew the true evil that lurked just under the skin.
Ashton held the door to the bar open for you and Luke. you flinched slightly when you felt the tall demons hand go to the small of your back as he surveyed the room, “where are your friends?”
you pointed to the bar, “over there.”
his hand remained glued to you as you approached your friends, pulling them into a hug. “who are your friends?” one of them asked.
“this is-”
“Luke,” he introduced himself, holding out a hand. you were shocked at the easy going smile, not used to what looked like actual happiness and warmth in his eyes, “hope you don’t mind i tagged along, Y/N was at my place and invited me. i’m sorry if i’ve been stealing all her attention this month.”
his arm moved to be over your shoulders and your friends eyes widened, the suggestion of what he’d just said, lost on no one.
“and i’m Ashton, Luke’s friend.” Ashton introduced, also shaking hands.
this had been what they were discussing in the elevator, you were sure of it.
Ashton ordered himself a drink and mostly watched the bar, being as civil as possible while Luke chatted up your friends. it was like he’d flipped a switch. he actually seemed like a decent boyfriend.
you wondered if this was a talent they all had and just chose to never use.
you wondered what Calum would be like as a boyfriend but immediately shook the thought away.
Ashton’s eyes darted to the door and you felt Luke tense next to you, just like Calum had that night in the apartment. they seemed to have some sort of demon radar so you immediately looked around as Ashton pushed himself off the bar, “i’m going to go see if anyone outside has a smoke.” he excused himself.
you and Luke watched him leave and you made an effort to continue your conversation with your friends. a few minutes passed, still no Ashton. Luke was getting obviously restless, picking at some chipped nail polish and the silver rings on his fingers, “you know what babe, it’s getting late-” he began.
“no it’s not.” you stated.
his eyes went down to you and for a moment you saw the demon side of him in a micro expression before he smiled, “whatever you say, i’m going to go check on Ashton. i’ll be right back. don’t go anywhere babe.”
his tone was light hearted and teasing but you knew it was a command.
he squeezed your cheek with a grin before turning and going after Ashton.
“he’s so cute.” your friend said as soon as Luke was gone.
“yeah where did you find a guy like that!?” your other friend agreed.
you were about to answer when you noticed a few guys entering the bar. they looked human enough but there was something off about them that you couldn’t put your finger on.
you looked at them a few moments, trying to find something to explain the feeling in your chest when you noticed something black on one of the mens knuckles. black like demon blood.
your heart lurched in your chest and for a moment you felt fear for your two demon protectors who where nowhere to be found. you felt fear for yourself and your friends. in a moment of panic you motioned for the bar tender, “hey, is there a back door out of here? my ex just walked in and i really need to get out without him seeing me.”
the bartender looked you up and down then pointed towards the bathrooms, “last door on the left.”
you muttered a thank you before turning to your friends, “i’m going to the bathroom.” you really didn’t want to get them dragged into the whole situation. going out had been a bad idea. you should have known something like this would happen.
you slipped past them, trying to walk slowly but as soon as you reached the bathroom hallway you ran, finding the last door on the left.
cold night air greeted you and you looked both ways down the alley behind the club, deciding to turn left. you’d taken four steps when a hand grabbed your forearm. the man with the blood splattered knuckles grinned at you, “caught cha.”
you tried to tear your arm away but his grip was iron tight as his two other friends also exited into the alleyway, grinning at you, “you’ve been a tough one to find girlie.”
“and your guard dogs put up quite a fight.” the other agreed as they began pulling you down the alleyway.
you opened your mouth to scream when a hand went over your mouth. you thrashed around but to no avail.
a loud cracking sound echoed through the alley and the two demons holding you turned around. their third demon was on the ground, eyes closed.
Calum stood above him. a knife dripping black liquid in one ring clad hand. the two demons holding you tightened their grip. “we’ll hurt her.” one warned.
Calum said nothing as he threw the knife. it sliced through the air effortlessly, landing in the forehead of the demon to your left. he fell to the ground and Calum’s gaze turned to the final demon who had let go of you to grab his own knife.
now defenceless, Calum still looked like a force to be reckoned with as you pulled away from the demon, running to Calum who pushed you behind him, not so much as looking at you.
“it’s just you left.” Calum stated, “i’ve killed everyone else.”
the demon looked like a fish out of water, looking at Calum with big eyes as he processed his words.
“your buddies at the apartment on seventh, all dead.” Calum continued, “it’s just you.”
a few moments passed, you could see the demon trying to decide what to do.
“you’re entire group was pathetic. begging for their lives like children.” Calum spat.
the demon narrowed his eyes, grip tightening on his knife as he approached. he finally lunged at Calum, slashing the knife down but Calum blocked the attack with his forearm, his other hand coming up and slamming into the guys face.
he’d always loved rings for the aesthetic, but if there’s on thing Calum had learned over the years it was that Rings were a makeshift brass-knuckle and his choice weapon. as the demon went down, Calum went with him, fist colliding with the demons face again and again.
he was going to kill the demon anyways, and usually Calum completed his kills with almost surgical precision but he wanted to take his time with this one. he wanted to punish the demon for ever thinking it was a good idea to for him and his small group to use the elusive knowledge of your existence to attack Calum’s boss. to go after you.
you were his.
his teeth gritted as he pushed the thought away.
“Calum!” your voice pulled him from his task and he stopped completely, refusing to look at you. he thought about the only two times you’d called him by his name. about the way his name had been more of a moan or prayer. but now... now was not like that.
you sounded scared.
and a month ago, it would have made Calum laugh. but not this time.
“Calum,” you said again, “please.”
he found his knife on the ground, picking it up and slicing the demons throat before he stood.
he refused to look at you as he grabbed you and dragged you down the alley, turning into another alley that ran next to the club.
your eyes landed on Luke and Ashton.
Ashton was unconscious on the ground. Luke was next to him, he looked a little beat up but not as bad as Ashton.
Luke looked up as you and Calum approached.
Calum felt anger boil in his veins, “you’re not even that badly hurt.” he growled at Luke, letting go of you so he could pull Ashton off the ground, putting Ashton’s arm over his own shoulders as he held up his entire body weight. “Y/N, lets go.” he began walking towards the street and you followed.
“what about me?” Luke asked, finally saying something.
Calum didn’t say anything.
you scurried to Ashton’s other side, putting his other arm around your shoulders to help support him as you and Calum walked back to the apartment.
“is he going to be okay?” you asked.
“Demons heal fast. he’ll be fine. just knocked out.” Calum answered.
people stared at the three of you and it was a relief to finally reach the apartment building.
the elevator ride was silent.
you hated it.
one second Calum was silent and the next he was saying a whole essay about his feelings and then, just like that, quiet again. he made no sense to you and it was driving you insane.
Calum found Ashton’s keys and the two of you carried Ashton into his apartment, setting him on the couch. Calum turned and you found yourself following him back to his own apartment, “Calum-” you said as you closed his apartment door behind you, “can you talk to me?”
he poured himself a glass of whiskey, tension in his strong shoulders as his hands settled on the table, back to you, “bout what.”
“I... well... where have you been all week for starters?” you suggested, “i haven’t seen you-”
“been busy.” he washed his hands in the sink, paying careful attention to the rings, still avoiding your eyes.
you sighed, finally able to feel angry.
yeah, you were angry. angry about these bitchy demons telling you what to do and not giving you any answers. angry about being almost killed twice. angry about everything.
“can you just look at me!” you said, voice louder than you meant it to be.
he finally turned and you got a full view of his beautiful face. he looked a little banged up but that didn’t explain anything, “do you even care about me?”
silence.
you could feel tears in your eyes as you balled your hands into fists, “my life has been shit all month and it was mostly because of you! and then things happened and Ashton said im a half demon half angel hybrid and you weren’t there for me which i guess is expected because you never really have been-” you began to rant.
he approached you and you narrowed your eyes at him, “its like all you want me for is sex. that’s it. that’s the only time we’re ever good together and i’m sick of it! i’m not just some human you can use-”
you were screaming but you allowed his arms to wrap around you, pulling you to his strong chest. your tears soaked through his shirt but neither of you seemed to mind as you cried, grasping at his shirt as sobs wracked your body.
“it’s been a tough month.” he said, a hand surprising you as it began rubbing your back.
the last time he’d seen you cry had been very different.
Calum’s chest felt tight as he held you in his arms. he’d never had to console someone before. never had someone crying in his arms.
and it felt bad. in his chest. he couldn’t really explain it. but he wanted, he needed, you to stop crying.
you laughed slightly at his words and he found himself smiling too. “fuck you.” you giggled, eyes drying up.
Calum pulled away, cupping your face as he used his thumbs to brush away the tears. your hands came up to grip his as you looked at him.
“you’re not just sex.” he stated.
you rolled your eyes but he made you look at him again, “you’re not.” he said with more force this time, “i’ve never-” his voice caught and you watched as his throat worked to swallow, he licked his lips, studying your face, “i don’t know this feeling.”
you stayed silent, giving him room to speak if he needed it. as if he was some little bird and any big movements you made would frighten him away and he’d never come back again.
“i’ve been alive a long time.” he said finally, “and i’ve never... i’ve heard about love before but i never thought it was real... and then you.... i just.... i don’t know what i’m feeling.”
he went to pull away but you stopped his receding hands, “thats okay.”
he looked at you and you could have sworn you’d never seen him look so vulnerable.
you leaned in before you could stop yourself, pressing your lips to his. he kissed back immediately. no biting, no teasing, just kissing.
and then you felt him smile against your lips and you melted even further into the kiss, also smiling, which made kissing difficult and you both had to stop, just pressing your foreheads together, eyes closed, enjoying the moment.
“wait, Calum?”
“yeah.”
“did you kill the entire group of demons who were coming after me?”
“yeah.”
“that’s kind of romantic.” the words left your mouth and you both laughed but, damn, if it wasn’t sort of true in a very weird, twisted, demon sort of way.
“couldn’t stand the thought of you having Luke protecting you while other demons tracked the group down.” Calum said, “so i did it myself.”
“so now that... now that i’m safe we can...” you trailed off, hoping he knew what you were getting at.
“your dad is still my boss.” he said, pulling away from you completely with a slight frown.
your body mourned the loss of his touch as your eye brows furrowed, “so now what?”
“Luke’s too much of a pussy to call the boss and tell him what happened but when Ashton wakes up... we’ll have to give him a call.”
“so we have until Ashton wakes up.” you said.
Calum smirked at you, “i suppose we do. but i don’t want you to think you’re just sex.”
you could have laughed. he was still a demon, still a tease.
“unless you want it real bad Snoopy.” he grinned.
there it was again. a nick name that had originally been negative but now... it sounded sweet. a term of endearment decidedly yours. instead of answering him, you backed up until you hit the counter, lifting yourself up to sit on it as you spread your legs.
his eyes devoured you but unlike all the times before, the attention made you smile.
Calum could only resist the urge for so long. be belonged between your legs. and it was a crime for him to be anywhere else, especially when you were inviting him.
he finally gave in, coming to stand between your legs as his hands settled on your thighs.
you wrapped your arms around his shoulders and leaned in but he pulled away, “no. not here.”
he lifted you off the counter and you held tight to him as he took you to his bedroom. your back hit his soft sheets as he landed slightly on top of you, strong arms holding up his weight as he began to kiss you finally.
he ground down against you and you moaned loudly.
“missed you.” he whispered against your lips as your fingers tangled in his dark curls.
he rubbed himself harder against you and you both groaned at the feeling, “missed you here.” he was already rock hard and you were dying for him to take his pants off as you fumbled with the button and zipper, “so eager, tell me what you want Princess.”
“want you Calum.” you moaned.
his heart lurched at the sound of his name on your lips again. thats how it should sound. thats the way he wanted it to sound forever. he vowed to make his name sound like that every day for as long as you’d let him.
he realized he could never say no to you if you used his name like that and part of him didn’t mind as he helped you push his pants down before he tore yours off, followed by your shirt and bra.
he pulled away slightly, eyes admiring your body, “so pretty.” he whispered before his mouth went down to attach to your nipple, swirling his tongue around it as you arched up to his mouth.
“Calum.” you said again, tugging lightly on his hair and making him groan.
his hand rubbed you through your panties, “so wet.” he stated.
“all for you.”
butterflies exploded in his abdomen and Calum almost laughed at the feeling, all for him. he thanked whatever god had created you and allowed you to be there, in that moment, with him. and he felt no remorse for the silent prayer that rang through his head as he moved your panties to the side and slipped two fingers inside you.
the small whines and whimpers that left your lips spurred him on as he continued to worship your body, lips coming back up to yours again, wanting to devour the sounds that were driving him wild.
the feeling of his skilled fingers and the rings pushing into you was quickly dragging you to the edge and when Calum began sucking on your neck you spiralled over. he continued to work you through your orgasm before he pulled his fingers out of you.
he got to his knees, pulling his shirt off with one hand before he put his fingers into his mouth, groaning at the taste as he looked down at you.
in your post orgasm haze you reached, out, tracing the strong muscles in his abdomen and earning a small shiver. when your hands dipped lower, grabbing at him through his boxer briefs he groaned, pulling his fingers out of his mouth.
“please Calum. i need you.” you whispered.
he was on top of you again in an instant, shoving the remaining clothing barriers down as he teased your entrance. “please Calum.” you said again.
he smiled, shaking his head slightly at the power you had over him as he sunk into you. his forehead pressed against yours as he moved in and out slowly at first, his breath fanning over your face as you looked into his eyes, cupping his face.
it was the most intimate moment in his entire existence, replacing the first time you’d fucked and beating it by miles.
the small moans he made, low in his chest, were enough to make you close again. he was going slow, hitting impossibly deep and making your toes curl.
“go faster, please,” you moaned.
“wanna enjoy this.” he stated, continuing his pace.
you pulled at his hair, letting out a whiny: “Calum!”
his fingers dug unto your hips as he got better leverage, quickening his thrusts as your moans got louder and louder. “so tight, pretty girl.” he groaned, burying his face in your neck.
one of your hands moved to his shoulder, feeling the muscles moving under his skin as you dug your nails into his beautiful skin, earning another low sound.
“i’m close.” you whispered, eyes closed as you enjoyed the feeling and the softness of the situation.
the rough stuff had been great, but this was something else.
you could get used to both.
his lips came up to meet yours as he moved faster, the hand on your hip gripping tighter as his tongue slid in your mouth. you clenched around him and you both groaned into each others mouth. you were practically breathing each other and nothing had ever felt so right.
a few more deep thrusts sent you spiralling over the edge and as you whispered Calum’s name over and over like a prayer, he came too, thrusts getting sloppy as his kisses lingered, eye brows furrowed together, eyes clenched shut.
your fingers ran through his hair, massaging his scalp as he slowed and held himself over you, coming down from his high.
he moaned at the feeling of your fingers in his hair, the motions soothing him and relaxing his entire body. he pulled out of you and rolled onto his back, arms wrapping around you so you were secured against his chest.
he thought about how the bed had stopped smelling like you four nights after you’d gone. he felt his chest tighten. Calum didn’t know what tomorrow would bring. whether he’d ever be able to see you again or not, but fuck, he was going to make every last second he had with you count.
--------------
you paced nervously in Calum’s apartment, waiting for him to come back.
you’d woken in the morning to an empty bed and a note in the kitchen on your favourite take out that explained Calum had a meeting with the boss.
this was it. the moment of truth.
wherever Calum was, he was learning whether or not he could see you again. and you were stuck in his bloody apartment with nothing but your own anxieties to amuse you.
as soon as you heard the key in the lock you jumped up, throwing open the door. Calum was standing there, looking at you with surprise, “are you okay?”
“yeah, what did he say?”
Calum stepped into the apartment, closing the door behind him, “well you’re not in danger anymore. so as long as Luke, Ashton, Michael and I keep our mouths shut you should be fine.”
“and?”
Calum knew what he was doing. he knew what you wanted to hear. but the asshole demon side of him wanted to tease you a little while longer.
“and the boss was not happy with Luke which was, you know, nice.”
“and?!”
his hands went on either side of you, as he leaned forward, trapping your body between him and the kitchen counter, “and, he’s not happy about us but as long as you’re safe he doesn’t mind that you and me are seeing each other.”
you let out a squeal of relief, cupping Calum’s face as you pressed a kiss to his mouth. when you pulled away you smacked his chest lightly, “you’re such a tease.”
“yeah?” he asked, cocking his head at you.
“uh huh.”
he grabbed your hips, pulling your body flush with his, you could feel him through your pants already and your breath caught in your throat, he grinned, “you love me though.”
“i wouldn’t go that far, love is such a strong word-” you began but he cut you off with his lips, hands cupping your face.
when he pulled away he was still smiling. a true, genuine smile that reached his eyes, “what did i tell you about lying to me Snoopy?”
WHAT ABOUT LUKE HE DESERVES TO GET HIS DICK SUCKED REAL FUCKING GOOD he could just fucking end me. Like dude, this is your demon Luke coming to LIFE. AND DEMON LUKE NEEDS A GOOD BLOWJOB. ITS WHAT HE DESERVES
does he though? my demon luke is an ASSHOLE. but i guess maybe a GREAT blowjob would make him feel better and be not so much of a douche eh?
yo. can you imagine tho. like. he has you pinned against a wall, lips teasing yours and he’s smirking and you’re like “you’re an asshole you know that right?”
he hums in response, grin widening like the cheshire cat as he looks you up and down, “think i have something you could do to make me nicer.”
“yeah? what’s that?” you ask.
his hands go to his belt and you know where this is going. he steps back a little, giving you room to sink to your knees. you doubt it will actually solve anything or make him nicer but boy, are you ready to fucking try. suck that nonexistent soul out of that boys body
Okay but can we talk about how Michael looks like he’s in an underground grunge band, just add some copious amounts of eyeliner and those boots you know I like the ones from the arias he could stomp a bitch with and then that f king cHoKer and the lighting as he performs and just taking him to the bathroom or maybe you only make it to just the hallway and sucking his non existent soul out through his dick
babe how do i even respond to this. okay. imma just write a little oneshot. and because im a dick. i’ll make you the OC. how do you feel about that?
----
The sound of his guitar was mesmerizing. Michael had skills and everyone in the bar knew it, eyes on the grunge guitarist with his blue dyed hair falling in front of his face, half obscuring the smudged, dark eyeliner on his lids that brought out the green of his eyes. He was truly beautiful. Like some fallen angel, pouring his soul into art in an effort to somehow redeem himself, even amidst drunk strangers, on a shitty, make shift stage, in the back corner of a dodgy bar.
and even though the lost souls in the crowd with their foreign faces, couldn’t offer him any redemption, one person could.
perched on a bar table, gaze on the grunge guitarist who was rocking her favourite choker and some dangerous looking platform heels, Em watched the rock god demon with eyes full of adoration.
whenever he looked up, Michael searched for her, finding her easily amongst the bodies that meant nothing to him. he had always felt a pull to her, something drawing his practically non-existent soul to the girl with the frizzy hair he adored so much and the pretty green eyes that she always framed with crazy eye liner, or set off with an interesting shade of lipstick.
tonight, her lips were purple, a new colour he’d picked up for her when he’d seen it at the drugstore on a midnight run with a case of the munchies. and she looked fabulous.
the set finished and Michael handed his guitar to a stage runner, stepping down and immediately setting off to his girl who awaited him with open arms. he was sweaty and glistening in the dazzling lights, colourful beams illuminating his beautiful skin and making him look like the angel he once was.
he pulled Em to his chest, cradling her close, “what did you think of the set babe?” he asked, looking down at her.
“i loved it.” she assured him, always ready to offer support to the demon who meant the world to her.
he studied her lips, the shade of purple, and a wild grin spread over Michael’s face, something truly demonic slipping through that made Em tilt her head at him, waiting for the dirty words she knew were about to be said. he pulled her close again, lips teasing her ear, “so if you suck me off right now, will my dick turn purple?” he asked, “to match the blue balls i have right now?”
Em laughed, “i feel like the lipstick wouldn’t come off-” she began, always the realist, answering honestly which made Michael laugh, adoring the way she looked at the world.
his teeth grazed her neck, nipping at the skin, “how about we go and find out hmm?”
