Demonbound intro (teaser, really)
Some people will tell you that all demons are to be feared. Some people will tell you the other side of that coin is the truth. I tell you it's a mix. Some demons you never, ever want to meet. Others are as harmless as your average garden snail or worm. The harmless ones actually make nice pets. Then there are the ones in the middle ground, the grey area. Demons that are powerful, yet would much rather interact peacefully with us humans. You're more likely to get asked the time of day by one of them then get attacked by one.
Then, there's my demon. He started off as the kind you don't want to run into. At least, that's how he was before I met him. He's in the middle ground now, unless you piss him off. Cerulean's complicated, has been since the day I met him. He scarred the shit out of me by playing a "prank," walking up behind me in a dark alley and saying 'boo.' Having been freaked out as I was, I hit him in the gut with a mini Louisville Slugger. How was I supposed to know he wasn't going to kill me?
Needless to say, our relationship had a rocky start. Why he agreed to be a bound demon at all, I don't know, let alone my bound demon.
But, I'm getting into the past too much here. Unless you want to know about the past. In which case, I'll continue.
Like I said, rocky start to the relationship. Cerulean, my demon(and friend), had and still has a 'I do what I want' attitude. Granted, we get along like gangbusters now, but it wasn't so easy in the start. There were times in that first year I thought he only allowed himself to be bound so he wouldn't have to continue living on the streets. The only times he would listen to me were when it was convenient for him. Things started to change as we got to know each other, though. We started getting along, met other Demonbound pairs, and he started listening to me.
Unfortunately, there was one person who didn'approve of Cerulean even existing. A man named Maxwell Evans, who styles himself like, hell, I don't know, the sophisticated bad guys from movies and comics if they were to try to be the good guys(examples - Jareth, Loki, Dracula). Something like that. He's old fashioned, for sure, and an old fashioned type like him felt that Cerulean was too strong and un-rully to be contained. The fact that Cerulean is a 'cross-breed' didn't help to disprove this thought process. As far as I know(which may very well be wrong), Maxwell is so old fashioned that he thinks humans should control 'demon breeding,' or something like that. Point is, he wanted to kill Cerulean and set me up to have a demon "more suited to a delicate young lady," or no demon at all.
He actually tried to kill Cerulean, once. To the surprise of him, Maxwell, and even myself, I stopped him from doing so. Fate had it in store for the full potential of my powers as a Demonbound human to bloom that night. I'm still not sure how it worked, but I basically put a(insert the name of a higher power of your choice here) up-held restraining order on the guy. Now, if Maxwell was to try and succeed to take Cerulean's life, he forfeits his own. I thank whatever power's in charge, be it God, Odin, Zeus, Vishnu, Ra, whoever, that the man's convictions aren't strong enough for him to meet that goal.
But, enough of this. The past is the past, and the only thing we can do is look back on it and learn from it. Time moves on, like a river. Slow at times, fast at others. We'er all given boats in which to ride that river. Some, better boats then others, but we make do with what we have, striving for something better, something more. Some find it, some don't, and others are just content to be on that river at all.
Nightmares and the Like
Blood, everywhere. My blood. My head full of fuzz and fog. My body racked with pain. The one I'm sworn to protect being forced to watch, screaming for it to stop, screaming for them not to kill me. Hate in the eyes of the one taking my life. Nothingness in the eyes of the one holding her back, making her watch as I'm killed. Pain in my heart, fearing that he'll more then likely kill her, too. That pain is far worse then the physical..... I see the final blow coming, close my eyes, and wish I could close my ears as well, so as not hear the pain in her voice as she cries out my name.....
"CERULEAN!"
I sat blot up-right, scream tearing out of my body like a caged animal finally set free. Gasping for breath, I looked around me to find myself in my room, in my bed, whole and un-hurt. I also saw Dannie, standing next to the bed, a look of concern and relife on her face. It had only been a nightmare. "Sorry if I woke you."
"It's okay. I was already up anyway." She sat down on the edge of my bed. Even in the dark of the room, I could see that her night clothes were wrinkled and her hair was messy from sleep. It looked like she hadn't been up for very long. "Jonir was having a bad dream, too."
"Ah." I'd almost forgotten the Inkling was staying with us again. "His was probaly worse then mine." Dannie looked at me, confused. "My brain was just making shit up," I said, pointing to my head. "Jonir's bad dreams and nightmares are his memories."
"Not this time. He was being chased by a Teddy Ruxpin."
"Fuck, that's terrifying," it came out with a laugh. "I told Josh not to show him any Nostagia Critic videos with that thing in them."
"Yeah," she laughed. "If he could, I'd let Evans destroy that damn bear in a heart beat." A smile crossed her face brifely. "So, what shit did your mind come up with, demon mine?"
"Don't wanna talk about it. It's stupid." Really didn't want to talk about it. The reason? I didn't want to cause Dannie un-due worry. Damnit if she didn't grab my hand, though. The worry was in her green-hazel eyes, pushing the tiredness she must have felt to the back. "Not fair, using puppy-dog eyes. Don't deny it, either!"
Sighing, and knowing it would be the only true way I could get myself to let her know what the nightmare had held, I opened the telipathic link between us and played it over again in my head. All of it.
By the time it had played through, I was aware of the fact that I was crying. Not that bull-shit sexy crying, or manly crying like you see in the movies, but the kind of crying you see when childern are given bad news. I knew why I was blubbering like a baby, too.
My nightmare was my worst fear, and Dannie now knew what that was.
I had drempt that my own father was killing me, slowly and painfully, while my mother, under his control and manipulation, made the first human I've ever cared for watch.
Random Conversation between Me and Cerulean
Me: I hate that I have to dye my hair again to hide the pink streak. Damn thing keeps coming back.
Cerulean: Why did you put a pink streak in your hair to begin with if you hate having it.
Me: Ah didn't put a pink streak in my hair, ah put a purple streak in my hair. It faded out to pink.
Cerulean: Your accent is showing. Also, didn't that happen to you before? Back when you dyed all your hair purple?
Me: ....yes...
Cerulean: Someone didn't learn from their mistakes, now did they?
Me: Shut up.
Cerulean: What color you gonna go with this time? Green?
Me: Shut up or Ah'm gonna flush yer vodka down the toilet and hit you over the head with the bottle!
Cerulean: Damn, sor-ry!
Me: .....
Cerulean: ......
Me: .....
Cerulean: Want me to help you with it?
Me: With what!?!
Cerulean: Dying your hair.
Me: ....yes.....
So, um...
I took the lap top for the day, and now I'm talking to Deadpool. This day is going much better then I thought it would.
He's calling me Barry, though. I guess him giving me a nic-name means he likes me?
