The whole city smelt of ash and burnt flesh. Half of it was still on fire. Even Fi had no hope of getting to the civilians trapped behind it. Instead she stuck to the uncharred streets, silently checking hiding places for survivors and corpses for any sign of life. It was unlikely that she would find anyone at all, but even if she only discovered one person it was important. Hyrule’s dwindling population needed every life it could save no matter how badly they might be injured. If it hadn’t she wouldn’t have been there. Fi wasn’t even close to being the most important being on their side but that didn’t make her expendable. The fact that she was slinking around the shadows looking to find what was salvageable spoke of how desperate the war was becoming. Hylia’s plan to end it all still required more time. Until then she had to do her best to hold the line, and at the moment that meant dodging the monsters on watch to dig through wreckage for any sign of life left in the city.
