Sunday Time Capsule Part 14: Last week we looked at John Thomas Moore, who died in 1914. The photo above is of the first four out of twelve to survive to old age. We will look at the others in later posts. But to recap, Joe and Maggie had 12 children during the course of their marriage. The first child, born in Arkansas in 1905 was a daughter who they named Geraldine Moore. When she was 6 months old she died of malaria. Then the next children came every two years. They were; Darrel 1906, Louise 1908, Clara 1910, Mary 1912... . The order on the photo is; Clara, Darrel, Mary and Louise. I knew them all quite well. At this point in 1913 Joe was still farming. Joe was especially hard on Darrell since he was is oldest living child and only son.It was important that Darrel have all the advantages that Joe was deprived of. But their relationship was always more like sand paper than silk. Louise was the parent helper, highly responsible and dependable through her life. Each went on to do great things and live wonderful adventures.
