Ernst Zeuthen (Dec. 30, 1880 - 1938) was a Danish Symbolist painter. He used the same type of religiously inspired symbols on canvas after canvas: Fires, sails in the sunset, mountain sides, coastal vistas.
He exhibited widely in Denmark and abroad, for instance at Kunstnernes Efterårsudstilling from 1912, and was a member of Den Frie from 1917. He had worked for some years in the US and traveled widely in Southern Europe.
His work with color combinations was almost manic. He would experiment for years before declaring a canvas finished, and then often recall the sale only to rework the painting to get it just right.
