May 18, 2025 - Over a 100.000 people marched in The Hague, making it the largest demonstration in the Netherlands in 20 years, to condemn the Israeli genocide of the Palestinian people, and the complicity in this genocide of the Dutch government, universities, businesses and other institutions.
Most protesters came to the protest dressed in red, saying "Israel has to be stopped now, we are drawing the red line!", because even open ethnic cleansing, bombing of hospitals and ambulances, deliberate starving of children, constant war crimes and open genocide in general apparently aren't a red line for Israel to cross in the eyes of the Dutch government. Ook zijn nog veel mensen onderweg naar Den Haag. De NS meldt dat de treinen naar de stad erg vol zijn en dat niet iedereen mee kan.
Mass protest in The Hague again to
demand action against Israel
In the centre of The Hague, tens of thousands of people are holding a new Red Line protest against the government's policy on Israel. Estimates of the exact number of people vary. The organisation speaks of 150,000 people; reporters on the spot estimate that at least 100,000 people have come to the Malieveld.
Also, at the beginning of the afternoon, many people were still on their way to The Hague. The NS reported earlier that the trains to the city are very full and that not everyone can go. At Utrecht Central Station, it is very busy on the platform where the train to The Hague departs and there are also masses of people in the station hall of The Hague Central. According to NS, the atmosphere is good.
