As striking as his turn in Mauvais Sang, Denis Lavant's haunting performance in the video for Rabbit in your headlights is what makes it unforgettable. A "prime example of sustaining a sense of mounting dread and delivering an odd yet thrilling payoff", according to Rolling Stone.

There is a strong tonal kinship between this video and Under the skin, the movie director Jonathan Glazer made 15 years later.

Denis Lavant worked with choreographer Christine Burgos to "structure" this scene. It was so taxing that he said to director Leos Carax that he could only do five takes, finally he did seven. In one take, Denis Lavant did a somersault and subsequently had to run faster to keep up with the cars used for the travelling. Carax loved this impromptu rupture of the rhythm and used it in the movie.

This memorable sequence made Denis Lavant a household name in French cinema. He reminisces about it in this interview.

depois de ver: a tensão no ar é alta. a relação de poder, desejo e abstinência é algo bastante militar. não empolgou.
