To all first year actors, soon to be second year actors about to embark on your extended diploma ...
Wonderful to meet you yesterday and chat about the future. Have a well deserved rest and enjoy the sun but don't forget your targets over the Summer. Here's the tasks and research that we discussed that you need to complete before you come back in September:
Targets following your tutorial/progression meeting:
Complete the second draft of your UCAS personal statement and your actor’s CV and hand it in to Den when you return in September 2016
Research proposals for two contrasting classical monologues – Greek theatre or Shakespeare to begin with. You do not need to have learned the speeches, but you need to have done your actor’s research for your choices and understand your character and the play.
Research a proposal for a contemporary monologue of your choice (from a published play).
Research a proposal for a character song of your choice (from a published musical).
Continue to research your future career path and look at your university or drama school options in more detail over the Summer.
Go and see two pieces of theatre (either plays or physical theatre) and write about them in your logbook.
