Earlier this year Dennis Kim took me out to lunch and detailed his vision for a music video for a previously unreleased #TypicalCats song called "Zulu." We recruited @mckswift @drowflow as actors and one early morning in the Fruitvale met up to shoot guerrilla style on BART between West and East Oakland. D showed up equipped with two hands worth of Vietnamese coffees and pastries for the squad. Before T and Swift arrived, D and I discussed our forthcoming departures from @youthspeaks and our unknown paths ahead. It reminded me of the chorus he sings on this song: "I’ve seen the miles that stretch their arms and legs along the open dial / I’ve become an orphan son of the open road like a highway child." I can’t really suggest any since that story, as mentioned in the post, took place several years ago. I don’t do Naruto RPing anymore, haven’t for years.

something about this piece still sticks to my ribs after all these years.  i think it's the no-frills, bare-as-bones honesty about it.  bare. as. bones.  the instru is 8 bars of the same piano riff, same drum pattern looped throughout (seriously, its the same shit... not one variation, not even one beat drop for drama).  it doesn't even have a chorus.  it's just a perfectly captured moment of a man that had something to say, and no agenda other than just getting it said.
