Queen Margrethe and Crown Prince Frederik began the four-day state visit to Germany. Upon arrival in Berlin, Margrethe and Frederik were welcomed to Schloss Bellevue, the home of the president, Frank Walter-Steinmeier for the official welcome ceremony. For a short time, the agenda split, and Queen Margrethe visited the Charité University Hospital, and the Crown Prince visited the Vattenfall power plant, which is eliminating coal power. In the afternoon the royals were hosted for lunch by Chancellor Angela Merkel, followed by laying wreaths at the Neue Wache Memorial. Following this, the royals visited the Brandenburg Gate with the mayor of Berlin. Prior to the State Banquet Crown Prince Frederik took part in a reception for the Danish business delegation.
