Denon MC2000 DJ Controller

Budget DJ controllers have their spot in the hearts of many DJs, many of whom already have the high end gear they like, but they want something portable and cost friendly.  Vestax and Pioneer both make the higher tier DJ controller decks, and they come with a price tag to match it.  An experienced buyer would think “buy once, cry once” – but there is reason to go ahead a purchase a starter unit rather than going for the nicer one.  DJs that use Serato and Traktor are likely to have gear that suits them best, and it is likely decent gear.  They might have a set of CDJ’s at home or even a pair of turntables, but they aren’t willing to sell that off in order to buy a S4. The idea of portable gear stems around the need for something that can handle abuse.  Portable gear will be dropped on occasion, and mistreated in ways that home gear would not be.  So, if decided on a setup to take with you, it would make sense to get something simple that you won’t mind parting with.  The Denon MC2000 is still one of the better budget controllers along with some of Numark’s entry level controllers. http://www.musicradar.com/reviews/dj/denon-mc2000-dj-controller-576111

Denon DJ MC6000 MK2 Serato Controller

If I were the check the houses of every DJ I know, I am guaranteed to find a few provisions and controllers laying around that once had their purpose, yet are now collecting dust in the corner.  A good majority of these tools would likely not be turntables or mixers, but likely controllers.  Controllers are the only thing that I would not have a problem with buying and selling.  Why is that?  Well, controllers may look good in a picture and in the head, but using them reveals many flaws.  Sometimes buttons are placed in the wrong spot or they fail to exist altogether. Other times, the controller is just too plain to keep up with the complexity of modern times.  This is the case with Denon’s first Serato controller.  On the surface, it looked great.  It gave you the buttons you needed minus everything else.  Some people didn’t like being boxed into a stuck device, so they branched out – but so did Denon.  Their second version of this controller includes functioning decks, and it does it in an incredibly small package.  If you have seen a VCI from Vestax and a NS7 from Numark, you’ll know what I mean about size differences. http://djworx.com/review-denon-dj-mc6000-mk2-serato-controller/#.UxjYLfldW1C
