Having Dense breast is a dangerous?
According to a survey, there stays a 40% chance in every woman to have dense breast. Dense breast is term given by radiologist. Breasts contain glandular, connective, and fat tissue. Breast density is a term that describes the relative amount of thedifferent types of breast tissue as seen on a mammogram. There are two types of tissues.Dense tissue and fatty tissue. Dense tissues looks white, when viewed on a mammogram, Non dense breast tissue appears dark and transparent. Dense breast tissue appears as a solid white area on a mammogram, which makes it difficult to seedense breast. Women who have dense breast, are the most probable candidates for breast cancer.
There are few things necessary to do, if you have dense breast.
· Please do regular mammogram check up to know your breast condition
· If the risk of getting breast cancer is high in you? Please do Breast MRI , Breast Ultrasound that will help to find out the dense tissue better than mammography.
In women, breast density increases with age.But it is not necessary that all women have dense breast.
Take care of yourself! You are always a fighter and I believe, we all will fight through the breast cancer one day.

Breast Cancer: Things To Know
Most of us learn about breast cancer from the magazines, news, people, events as well as paper columns. However, in reality, breast cancer is quite fatal and is actually a group of diseases that are related. It is all about behavior of cells in an abnormal way in lymph nodes. You will be surprised to know that no two breast cancers are alike.
Categorized based on the genetics
Indeed, it (Breast cancers) can be grouped into different types based on the way cancer cells look and can be categorized based on the genetics of the tumor cells. You will be surprised to know that each cancer has a unique genetic profile. Doctors take time to understand the biology of the cancer to prepare a treatment option.
Deliver complete information on the cancer
Only proper tests help women to know about their cancer otherwise there is no other way of identifying the issue. Tests are designed to deliver complete information on the cancer to doctors. Based on the reports, doctors can predict how a cancer will react or grow in a region.
Study of different cells and their behavior
They also study different cells and their behavior under different conditions before coming to the conclusion. They separately study tumor cells, size of the cells, size of the lump, stage information (the stage of the breast cancer is determined by a system called the TNM staging system.) and also take second opinion of doctors before making any decision. Hence, we can say that it is an exhaustive process and takes it own time.
Why Breast density is Important?
A dense breast refers to the amount of dense breast tissue on a mammogram, in relation to the fatty tissue. Breast density is important to recognize, because the ability of mammography to detect breast cancer and in addition it can increase the risk factor for the patient for developing the future breast cancer. Breast Density is a strong predictor of whether a woman will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. However, researchers and medical professionals are still unsure of why this is the case, and many women have never heard the phrase before!
Every breasts contain glands, fibrous tissue, and fat. Dense tissue is made of glands and fibrous tissue. Dense breasts have relatively more glandular/fibrous tissue than fatty breasts.
However, having dense breasts both increases the likelihood of developing cancer and of having cancer being missed by mammography. Mammograms are not as effective in detecting cancerous tumours within dense breast tissue
Breast density is an important piece of information about a woman’s breast health. Few women are aware of their own breast density or its associated risks. In the UK, there is an increase in need for density education for both health professionals and for patients.

Are dense breasts common?
Women with the age of 40 and older are the probable candidates to have dense breasts. Breast density is often inherited, but several other factors can influence it. (more…)

Dense Breast Tissue
The situation pertaining to density in breast tissue is seen with the help of mammogram. Breast density refers to the comparison between the amount of fibrous and glandular and amount of fatty tissue in the breasts. A significant level of dense breast tissue is not considered harmful, however; density above an optimum level is regarded as something to worry about. Too much of dense breast tissues are likely to increase the risk of breast cancer.
Let us take a deeper look at the reason behind density in breast tissues. There are actually three types of tissues in a woman’s breast namely Fibrous (holds are breast tissues in place), Glandular (part of breast that forms milk and tubes to carry milk to nipples) and fatty tissues. Fatty tissues act as “fillers” for the empty spaces in breast. By doing this, they give shape to breasts. The absence or lacking of fatty issues leads to the situation of breast dense tissues. The density of breast tissues keeps changing with age. However, the risks of dense breast tissues is likely to increase in Younger women Women who are breastfeeding Pregnant women Women with low BMI (body mass index) The radiologists describe the level of density of The test to determine density of breast tissues i.e. mammography involves low dose X-rays. It does so by measuring proportion of fibrous, glandular and fatty tissues. On a monogram, the breast tissues which are not dense appear dark and transparent. However, the dense breast tissues do not appear dark and transparent. Instead, they can be seen as a solid white area which is not transparent. In addition to this, Breast tomosynthesis, also known as the“three-dimensional (3-D) mammography” and digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) is also a method to identify breast dense tissues. Moreover Breast Ultrasound and Breast MRI are also known as significant means for the testing of density in breast tissues. Radiologists define density in breast tissues using a result reporting system which is called as Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS). The level may vary from A to B, each of which has different characteristic with varying severity. Though there is no strong evidence pertaining to the relationship between dense breast tissues and breast cancer, but some doctors suggests that breast tissues density, if is not taken into consideration in time, may result in serious complications and might lead to breast cancer. Moreover, the scientists have not yet come up with a notion that reduction in density in breast tissues might reduce the risk to breast cancer. However, as they say “better safe than sorry”, you should not delay seeing your doctor in case if you have dense breast tissues.
