I had a sad empty feeling, knowing that the vacation with my 2 best friends was over. Driving alone, in the middle of nowhere, I suddenly felt a nudge to pull over and look at the stars. ⠀ . ⠀ There were no cars behind me, so I made my way over into the loose gravel, kicking up dirt into the darkness. I thought to myself, “I haven’t seen a car in over an hour.” I abruptly slowed down to a stop. My body was stiff from the 8-hour drive. I opened the car door and inched my way out into the quiet desert. ⠀ . ⠀ There was nothing out here! The vast emptiness coincided with how I felt. I felt lonesome, but I was at peace with it. . ⠀ I looked up, at the glittering milky way. I knew I changed inside. I was not the same person, who drove in the opposite direction 2 weeks ago. It did not totally settle in yet, but I knew I was different. ⠀ . ⠀ I saw the tiny headlights of a semitruck peep over a hill about mile away. I popped open my trunk and pulled out my camera and set it on the roof of my car. The semi’s headlights got bigger. I got ready. I positioned myself in front of the camera.
