FERGUS SEES BRIANNA AS A MIRACLE - in so many ways … for himself as well as for two of the people he loves most in this world. He was there in Paris when Faith passed away & Jamie & Claire … IMPLODED & while I don’t think he was fully aware of what was happening ( - he was what … ten ? ) he understood more as he grew older. Also … the way that Brianna … just appeared = miracle, as well as the happiness she brought not just her parents but him & the entire community around them is just … so special. She also CONSTANTLY just … amazes him & puts him right back into his place which is so necessary ! She isn’t afraid to call him on his shit & some times Fergus really needs to be called on his shit ! Plus - he really challenges gender roles in the eighteenth century so she really helps to … expand his mind - although Claire has really done that from the beginning so it isn’t surprising she would too ! & finally, I think they have this really ( in some ways ) stereotypical brother / sister relationship & really rag on each other at times but … there is such a genuine LOVE there that is just so important. Fergus never though the would have a sister - let alone such a KICK - ASS one & he admires her so very much. & misses her so much … !
