Deran sent him money. This season is just a scattered mix of  - how Smurf became Smurf and how it doesn’t make me like her more at all - just how boring a sociopath Jay really is - pope doing even stranger shit than usual - craig being a crappy dad with a just as crappy mom to baby - deran trying not to be run ove again and failing - bad cops being bad cops BUT. Finally, 9 goddamn episodes in, we learn that Deran sent Adrian money.  It’s not even near enough. We’re spending soooo much time on Craig and Renn failing to be parents and soooo much time with Smurf flashbacks and then this weird sidestory with Pope and the single mom but no Derdrian... like, at all? No anonymous e-mails? No burner texts? No “hey I’m alive, I miss you” or “please, take care, I love you”, or even a “I know you ratted, Imma kill you”? Just a big sis being STOOPID and a dirty cop who needs to be keelhauled. Deran sending Adrian money all along is literally the most interesting thing happening this season and I’m not saying that as a derdrian shipper because I don’t even write for that pairing or fandom anymore but GOD DAMNIT! IT WAS THE ONE RELATIONSHIP WITH ANY FUCKING POTENTIAL AND YOU’RE NOT EVEN GONNA SHOW US A GODDAMN BURNER TEXT?!?

I have a theory about Adrian

Basically we know that Adrian has never wanted to be involved with Smurfs shit. So the theory is that Deran has to go to Smurf to get help to get Adrian off the hook. Therefore making Adrian now have to do shit for her. Cause we’ve noticed that Spencer has been at table reads and on set quite often than normal, which wouldn’t happen if he was locked up. He wouldn’t be there so often before then either which gives me the thought that maybe he’s going to be involved with the family a lot more, not just Deran.

Deran finds him in the alleyway behind The Drop when he goes to take out the trash after closing up.

The guy’s curled up between the dumpsters, rickety backpack clutched tightly against his chest, and the hood of his jacket pulled up, face hidden behind long, greasy hair. Deran’s got a couple of homeless guys coming in every other night to escape the heat for a while, sharing a few cokes between them for as long as they can make them last, but they’re quiet and don’t make any trouble, so Deran doesn’t mind them hanging around. People passed out, and probably high as shit on top of it, on his property are another thing, though.

Sighing, Deran walks closer, and, none too gently, nudges the guy with the tip of his boot. “Hey, get up, come on. You can’t sleep here, man.”

Or, alternatively; Deran takes in a stray, Adrian comes back for good, and, somehow, they finally figure their shit out.

Until anything else is confirmed, my take on Deran burning the pics and stuff, is that he knows people are coming for the Codys and that he: 1. Wants to wipe out things that will easily lead his enemies to Adrian. 2. Needs to wipe out the thoughts of Adrian, not because he doesn’t love him, but because people are literally out to kill the Codys and Deras KNOWS that this aint the time to feel soft, which happens if he’s surrounded by all these memories. 3. Feels guilty because when they parted, Adrian said that while he loves Deran and has done since they were kids and probably ALWAYS WILL, Deran (but probably most of all his family) is the worst thing that happened to him.  So, while I’m not getting my hopes up, I’m not gonna believe the worst either.

How did these two go from one seriously toxic relationship to the healthiest and sweetest one, not just in the show, but on television as a whole? Don’t screw this up now, show makers. My gay heart can’t take it.

AK Spoilers!

My thoughts after the first two episodes:

*Smurf is not a psychopath, she’s a fullblown sociopath and it’s a miracle that her three biological sons arent. *Baz was a sociopath too, that’s probably why he was once a bit of a favourite, since he’s the only one of the boys she could identify with a bit more. *J had potential to not become a sociopath in the first two seasons and up until like half of season 3, but now he’s following Smurf’s path and, I think, is slowly loosing more and more of his initial moral code. He’s molded into something Smurf wants and he’s pretty much powerless to stop that process by now. *Smurf is now realising that Baz’ level of smartness was a lot easier to control than J’s. J is simply far too clever to ever be safe for her and she’s not gonna let her guard down. *Smurf probably has uterine cancer, which is common with older women.  *Pope is a sociopath and as his chances to healthy interactions with people are significantly reduced now since Lena’s gone, and Angela turning up may be either his path out of the bad spiral or making it worse. It can go either way, but I doubt he’ll survive the season. *I think Deran knows a lot more than he lets Adrian know. I mean, he grew up with THREE older brothers who all had their problems and Deran aint stupid. But I also think he’s holding back any accusations since he knows it will only lead to rejection and argues, which wont help. Deran’s a lot smarter than people give him credit for. He’s gonna keep an eye on Adrian, but I don’t think he’ll do anything without thinking it through. *Adrian is consumed with guilt, stress and worry and I also think that he, maybe for the first time, understands Deran previous behavior towards himself and others. He’s realising that there might not be any easy ways out of a criminal life once you’re dragged in. He’s drowning and doesn’t know how to deal with it. *I’m pretty sure Craig’s either gonna end up badly hurt/dead from his own stupidity or other using him as a pawn, or he’s gonna be the one accidently hurting someone he cares about.  *Mia is just... she’s either gonna be the downfall of J, or her “foster brother” will mess something up badly and get her killed. Or J will find out about her scheme and all the rage that’s been building up since season 1 will boil over and he’s gonna blow her head off.  Anyway, it’s gonna be batshit crazy and I just want my babies Derdrian to be happy, but that’s probably not gonna happen. But I really, REALLY appreciate all the intimate, domestic, sexy, sweet and just everyday life scenes with them. Even with Adrian’s smuggling secret, they’re still the healthiest couple in the show.
