do you think derek and penelope ever had romantic feelings for each other? or do you think it was always platonic

ok i don’t want the morcia stans to attack me bc i do like the ship (especially with the addition of spencer) but canonically, i think there was definitely a mutual attraction but i don’t think there was ever super serious romantic feelings involved. i think penelope found a lot of comfort in her relationship with derek and that made it easy to confide in him. and vice versa. overall, i think feelings were simply platonic and they were just a couple of besties.
