𓈒⊹ Derek was a protector by nature — when it came to his brother, friends, and ex-partners, he'd always taken that role seriously.
𓈒⊹ When you went on a date for the first time and you had that small tremble in your voice placing your order, he thought it was the cutest thing ever. Given his outgoing personality, he never really understood why such mundane tasks would give anyone a hard time. What could be so intimidating about placing an order?
𓈒⊹ He quickly noticed how shy you were around him, too. Even after months of dating, your cheeks would flush everytime he called you beautiful. You struggled to maintain eye contact whenever he'd admire you silently, turning away with an embarrassed smile or giggle. It made his chest feel warm, and he absolutely adored having that effect on you.
𓈒⊹ He loved teasing you in the comfort of your home, but if you went out together and you'd get overwhelmed by big crowds, he'd hold your hand a bit tighter, or wrap an arm around you to keep you close. He's learned how to notice your discomfort without you having to say anything, and he had no problem doing things for you; paying for your things, placing your order and picking it up once it was ready. The knowledge of making your life more comfortable with these things made him feel better about himself, too. He wanted to be a good boyfriend for you, no matter what.
𓈒⊹ You being shy when it came to intimacy didn't surprise him either. It took you a couple of months to open up, but he never rushed you. He figured it'd be best if you guys started small, slowly letting you get adjusted to the idea of him seeing you naked — he'd help you get ready for a bath after a long day, wash your hair for you, and help you change into your pajamas.
𓈒⊹ Your first time with Derek was the textbook definition of perfect. He helped you undress, leaving trails of kisses on every newly uncovered inch of skin, while telling you how breathtaking you are and how well you're doing. He was being torturously slow, so much so that you'd get impatient and tell him to hurry.
𓈒⊹ Aftercare wasn't something he had to learn — it came to him naturally with you. He loved you more than anything, of course he'd pull you close and whisper soft praises in your ear as he rubbed your back. He made sure to clean you up nicely, before bringing you water and offering to take a bath together.
𓈒⊹ Derek knew that despite your shy, introverted personality, you were very much capable and independent when it came to everyday life. He knew you weren't a frightened kitten in need of saving, and he admired your determination to face your fears and push through. But he loved taking care of you whenever you needed it, and he'd be there to provide comfort every time.
