Rules

1. Fics must be at least 1,000 words in length. There is no "max" limit. Fics cannot be part of a larger, incomplete work. 2. Fanart must be original work. No collages or edits. 3. Fanworks do not have to be birthday-themed. We just wanna celebrate Derek Nurse! 4. Anyone with an AO3 account is eligible to participate in this exchange. 5. Please be considerate of the likes and dislikes your recipient provides, as well as any other information they give you to work with. We'll do our best to match people up with things they'll be excited about creating, but remember you're creating a gift to cater to someone else's preferences. 6. If you need to drop out for any reason at all, please let us know as soon as possible. We understand that life happens, and all we can ask for is as much time as possible to find a pinch-hitter for your recipient! 7. When you post, please try to tag appropriately and courteously. If you would prefer not to warn for the default archive warnings, use "Choose Not To Use Archive Warnings" instead of "No Archive Warnings Apply". 8. Don’t talk about what you’re making for the exchange in public (this includes your tumblr, twitter, etc.) until after fanworks are posted. Please don't post your fanworks anywhere else before reveals. 9. Please have all fics reviewed by a beta reader before posting.

What kind of fanworks can be created for this exchange?

* Fanfic * Fanart (original work, not collages or edits). This includes fancomics, if you're so inclined * Podfic - if your giftee requests work based on one of their fics and you like making podfic, this is an option, or you're welcome to write and record something original if you have time! * Fanvid - go nuts! If you'd like to create something not on this list, feel free to email the mods at [email protected] and ask! We want as much participation as possible!!!

Why such a long time between assignments and posting?

An excellent question! Because sign-ups fall at the beginning of the winter holiday season and other exchanges such as Swawesome Santa happen in December, we wanted to be sure people have plenty of time to complete their fanworks. Also, Nursey Week takes place in the week leading up to February 14th, so we wanted people to have the option to do both.

What if my life explodes and I can't get my fanwork done in time?

Life happens to the best of us! Please let the mods know as soon as possible if you're not going to be able to finish so we can get a pinch-hitter to take your assignment. You can email us at [email protected] or contact us via dereknursebirthdaybash.tumblr.com

TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES AND TIMELINE UPDATE

So the challenge sign-ups have experienced some technical difficulties. It turns out that AO3 requires sign-ups to be turned on in two different places and your mods, in their inexperience, only turned them on in one place. 

In order to make up for this, the deadline for sign-ups has been extended until Wednesday, November 21st

The first fics are starting to roll in! We have a few people in the exchange who have had life things come up, but we should have all the works completed by Sunday, as far as we know!
