The veela powers manifested unexpectedly at 11:53 am on his twenty-first birthday, in the middle of the Auror Department. Harry ended up desperately fleeing pursuit back and forth across Diagon Alley, accumulating more and more wizards along the way like some sort of involuntary pied piper, until he was finally cornered by the mob. He had to blast open the front window of Quality Quidditch Supplies and steal the new Cleansweep Century out of the display and go flat-out until he lost the last pursuers some thirty miles outside London. 

He tried to hole up in seven different increasingly remote cottages, huts, and finally just a tiny cave, but people somehow found him anyway. His owl to Fleur got back the encouraging news that this always happened to male Veela, and it was going to keep going until he took a mate, and also his only hope of keeping people from catching him was getting into a house with really stiff wards up round it. 

Harry went to Malfoy Manor. It was that or Hogwarts, and he couldn’t kick everyone out of Hogwarts. 

“You want me to leave my house so you can live here,” Draco said, when Harry Floo’d him from a fire he built just outside the gates. 

“I’m coming through the gates in ten minutes,” Harry said grimly: he’d fought off yet another six amorous suitors along the way, after a week of very little sleep, and his reflexes were starting to lose their edge. “You can stay or you can go, it’s up to you.”

“I’m not going anywhere!” Draco said. 

“Suit yourself,” Harry said. There was some small vindictive part of him that was secretly enjoying the idea of Draco going ridiculous and slack-jawed and moony over him: he wasn’t worried about keeping one person off, and he had a strong feeling that he was owed for all this. It was one more thing than ought to have happened to a single person in a lifetime.

It was highly entertaining for the first three days. Draco walked into furniture and wasn’t able to finish sentences and five times tried to kiss him, which Harry dealt with summarily. But apparently exposure muted some of the effects, because the fourth day at breakfast, Draco halted before he was about to put a cup of coffee down at Harry’s place–having been blocked from just grabbing, he’d gone for hovering and doing Harry favors, which was even more funny–and he frowned down at the cup and said abruptly, “What the hell am I doing?” 

Harry sighed a bit; it had been good fun while it lasted. Then he hastily threw up a Protego as Draco threw the coffee in his face and hissed savagely, “Potter, I’m going down to my kitchens, where I’m going to brew a Lascivious Elixir, and if you’re not out by sundown, I’m going to douse you.” 

“I can’t leave!” Harry said. “If I go anywhere else in England, the hordes will be after me.” 

“Well, it’s up to you,” Draco drawled, “but if you want to share my house, you’re going to be sharing my bed,” and it turned out, awkwardly enough, that the whole thing was actually intended to drum up good offers, and also that the veela instincts were just as potent the other way round when one of them came along. 

Harry didn’t figure that out until later, though; in the moment, it just occurred to him that Draco was offering a perfectly reasonable solution, and why not take him up on it. “All right,” he said, and Draco said, “Oh,” a bit blankly, and then Harry spent a really amazing two hours in the aforementioned bed, on his back, his legs over Draco’s shoulders and Draco’s cock satisfyingly buried between his thighs, pounding away a hard knot of miserable tension Harry had got so used to carrying around he hadn’t even realized it was there until it went away. He felt so fantastically good afterwards that he couldn’t quite summon up all the horror he intellectually wanted to. 

Draco was obviously in the same boat. “You seduced me,” he said, in what was clearly meant to be an accusatory tone, but mostly sounded marveling. 

“Yeah,” Harry said, floating. “I suppose so. Sorry.” He didn’t feel at all sincere. What he actually felt was–was–oh, right. He grabbed Draco and rolled them over. 

Three hours later, they finally got hold of themselves and stopped to shower and go have something to eat. They sat on opposite sides of the table, scowling down at their respective plates while they shoveled in the food. At the end, Draco muttered grudgingly, “All right, you can stay.”

“Yeah, I might,” Harry said. It wasn’t what he’d thought he was owed, but–oh, well.

Hey so I was trawling the internet once again looking for ygo fics that I haven't read before and stumbled once again across a rec for 'Scribe' from sefina cursing the fates that that was apparently forever gone from the internet and that I just didn't know who to ask if they got a copy. Until I noticed that one of those rec posts was from you! serendipity! So long story short, do you (or anyone you know) still have a copy of that fic?

omg i actually just noticed like a month ago that sefina took it down, i’m afraid no i don’t have a way to read it again. the only place i read it was ffdn, not ao3, and ive never thought to download/save fic from ffdn. it seems like sefina deactivated their account too :((((

Hey Sam, because of the Deadpool Trailers I've become interested in his comic book appearances & I know you don't particularly read a lot of Deadpool, but I remember you saying that he can be written horribly, so I thought that maybe you still had some recs about where one can begin, if one wants to read some Deadpool comics. It doesn't have to be solo though! since he seems to be a character that's funny especially with other people to play off of :) It'd be very grateful for your help <3

All I really remember is reading various issues and going “Ew, no thank you” I’m afraid :D The only Deadpool comics I’ve really enjoyed were the Posehn run that just ended (it was like 2013-2015 or something like that) -- and he had a good long bit part in the last Secret Avengers volume too.

so hey question, (since bbc hasn't been very helpful until now) do you know what the official reasoning is behind not letting ppl leave? I mean Orban *did* just say that the refugee crisis is a 'German problem' (which geez thanks dude, but whatever), so why aren't they letting ppl travel on? Is it to uphold the Dublin agreement? So he doesn't get into trouble with Brussels? (Sorry to just invade your inbox but maybe you have a better insight into the Hungarian side of the issue)

Hi, welcome! I am going to try my best and give you a point of view of an insider.

At this point, unfortunately, nobody knows the reason behind the government not letting the refugees leave. (edit: as of an hour or two ago, the refugees have been boarding buses and are being transported to the Austrian border)

There are two popular theories circulating the Hungarian forums.

It is speculated that this mayhem is good for Orbán’s politics, and that most of this chaos has the government’s approval. His entire platform has beenbuilt on finding someone or something to antagonize in public media, so people would be busy talking about these issues instead of the millions of dollars he and his pals have stolen. Here’s a short, abridged list of these things: Gyurcsány (former prime minister), Bajnai (ditto), banks, EU, the evil west, USA, the homeless, liberals. The list goes on.

There’s a big number of the population who only get their information from the national television or radio. These channels, however, are in Orbán’s hands (and anyone who tries to write or report on something Orbán doesn’t like, they are let go the next day), and at this point they are far more similar to Putin’s news reports than to that of, say, BBC.

When it became apparent that the refugee problem would cause troubles (around the time of the Charlie Hebdo assassination), the government sprang into action. They sent out letters to every single Hungarian citizen, asking them manipulative questions about the immigrants (something like “Some people think that feeding Hungarian families is more important than feeding immigrants, do you agree?”). Then they started airing propaganda on all national media channels spreading rumours and half-information about the refugee crisis. Then, when all everyone ever talked about were these immigrants, the real flood of people seeking help came. Now, however, they are absolutely unprepared to actually to anything. All the work, giving the refugees food, water, transportation, clothes, toys for the kids to play with, hygene products, all of it is done by volunteers and using donations.

Long story short, continuously implying that the refugees are the ones that are responsible for all the country’s poverty and the peoples’ misfortune made a dangerous number of Hungarians hate refugees. And while they are busy with this, nobody notices all the money being stolen. This is the perfect issue that people can pay their full attention to. Orbán is milking it to all its worth.

The other theory is that Germany is saying one thing in front of the cameras, but behind closed doors, they refuse to take any more refugees in. That would explain why trains simply stopped going to Austria, even after the refugees bought their tickets. In this case, the whole mess that is Budapest right now is a perfect illustration of the government’s inability to manage anything, much less a crisis of this magnitude. Again, civillians are doing the job the government should be doing.

The truth could be either of these, or both, or neither. Nobody (except for the assholes really high up) knows.

The latest news, however, is that the refugees are being taken to the Austro-Hungarian border, and that Austria and Germany has agreed to let them cross borders. They might, however, still send them back, as per their right according to the Dublin agreement (I am a little confused by your question re: they are upholding the Dublin agreement - I thought that agreement allows the refugees to cross borders, but if Germany or Austria, for example, refused to give them shelter, then Hungary, the first country to register them, would be responsible for them).

I can honestly not tell you what horrors that would cause.

Dot really grows the most over each season, so you’re going to love her forever. And of course Miss Fisher and Mac. I wish we got more Mac (dr lady) each season, but I will take what we can get of her!
