#5 Der Geilste Tag

The Most Beautiful Day

Hey everyone, we reached our last movie review this week, so I decided to bring something special to you. It is a bit different than the other ones - because who said that a great movie can only be English?

The Der Geilste Tag - The Most Beautiful Day - is one of my all time favorites ever. This German film was directed by Florian David Fitz (who also has a part in the movie) and came out in 2016. The storyline containes a huge adventure but at the same time provides a quite touching story.

Why? Because it’s about two men who are both diagnosed with terminal illnesses and they’re about to die. Instead of staying in hospital, they decide to steal a lot of money and make a roadtrip. They also document everything wild that happens to them so everyone can see that they’ve got nothing to loose. However, the twist is that they decide to kill themselves after they lived the most beautiful day of their lives.

While this sounds quite depressing, let’s make it clear that we are talking about a German movie. My personal opinion is, that (going against the stereotypes) German comedies are really funny and real pleasure to watch. For me, it wasn’t an exeption either. The journey of the two characters, Benno and Andi was as entertaining as any other Hollywood-made movies can be.

While the plot is quite simple - and we’ve already seen dozens of movies with the topic of illnesses - the tone takes this experience onto a whole new level. It’s not entirily sad or happy, the balance is that makes the movie so enjoyable. Of course, we can add the great work of the two actors, Schweighöfer and Fitz, and we get a movie which is simular to others but still unique and fresh.

My favorite part: When they’re on a crane and the whole scene is frightening, funny and still beautiful.

Der geilste Tag/Freundschaft.

Ein Film der aktuell in den Kinos läuft. Ein Film über Freundschaft, Loyalität und Liebe, der mich, wie ich jetzt schon behaupten möchte, irgendwie geprägt hat. Da er mich kurz vorm heulen und emotional völlig durch aus dem Kino entlassen hat was so noch nie vorgekommen ist.

-Achtung Spoiler-

Einen großen Teil dazu beigetragen hat die letzte Szene. Die Szene in der Florian David Fitz im Gerichtssaal sitzt und man sieht, dass er sich das Motiv aus der Halskette seines verstorbenen Freundes hat tättowieren lassen

Ich trage an meinem Arm ein Armband (praktisch die Tattoo Alternative für Minderjährige) auf der einen Seite bedruckt mit Kontra K auf der anderen mit Loyal. (Jeder der die Musik hört weiß, dass der Rapper mit diesem Begriff in Zusammenhang steht). Nun steht diese Loyal für mich aber nicht nur für Loyalität gegenüber Kontra und Deutschrap, sondern auch für die Loyalität gegenüber meiner besten Freundin, die das selbe Armband an ihrem Arm trägt.

Sie hat diesen Film mit mir zusammen geguckt und als wir auf dem Nachhauseweg im Auto saßen, emotional zerstört und Prinz Pi mit 1,40m aus den Boxen des Autoradios noch seinen Rest dazugab wurde mir wieder mal bewusst, dass ich die besten Freunde der Welt habe.

Liebe an sie, die dieses Musikding mitmacht, mit mir auf Konzerte geht und ihr Herz zum selben Beat schlägt wie meins. Liebe dafür, dass ich mit dir jede Zeit unvergesslich wird und selbt wenn man sich mal eine Zeit lang nicht sehen kann, sich nichts verändert . Und Liebe dafür, dass ich mich immer zu 100% auf dich verlassen kann. Loyal.
