Farrah always drove fast, fast as she could without getting caught. If she did, the police never remembered the experience.
Derrick started laughing when paramedics arrived at the door. He assured them nothing was wrong, it was just his birthday and he and Kal were having some fun.
As promised, Clara got her own car when she got her drivers license. It was a cute little thing, and only really Clara could fit in it.
Lips shoved against one another, clothes being ripped, Kal randomly thought that she should great her fiancé more often wearing only a tie and that hat that came with his uniform.
Vampires and death came hand in hand. It didn’t stop Veitaliya from enjoying the life around her, gently taking in the life despite the death behind her.
Clara didn’t believe in angels. So finding herself being called one day had her quite confused. She was pretty sure coming back to life didn’t place herself as an angel.
Finding himself alive after nearly reaching death was a miracle. Finding out what he was a tragedy though, something Nicola would never forget.
Protecting a naïve, unnoticeable human girl should’ve been easier, Lukas reasoned. But after the tenth time of seizing up at something terrible happening around Clara, he realized his reasoning was wrong.
Derrick didn’t scare easily. Although, he did have some fears that would only be quietly admitted to Kal as she slept.
Grey laughed as Emery caught her before she rolled off the bed, pulling her close. “You’re going to hurt yourself with all that moving.”
Clara read on the beach in the bikini that Marli got her, awkwardly shifting the towel around her. After the first dip in the cold water, she would rather sit in the sun for the rest of the day.
Kenyon followed the river as a wolf, sniffing around. His ears perked up at finding the deer, he had gotten worried they had gotten lost. He quietly led them back to their clearing.
Emery had his arm entwined around Grey’s, watching as Clara attempted to make a pile of red and golden leaves. He chuckled as she came out of one with leaves adorning her hair.
Nicola would’ve never let Clara out of the house this way, but somehow she managed to go about her business in town without wearing any shoes at all.
Pulling his jacket closer around her, Kal smiled as she inhaled softly Derrick’s unique smell, moving closer to him so she could get more of his scent.
Jumping from the diving board, Marli fell for awhile before hitting the water, coming back and seeing what score her friends and boyfriend would give her.
Lukas woke up to Clara’s shifting, opening his eyes slightly as she got out of bed. Thinking she was leaving he shut his eyes again before finding her come back into bed, opening his eyes as she curled beside him, burying her head under his shirt.
Darla was not amused at finding confetti everywhere in the morgue when Poe yelled surprise for her birthday. They were stuck for hours making sure not a fleck of any of it was left in the sanitary room.
Clara lay on a blanket in front of the tree, making Marli’s and Nicola’s work in putting presents from ‘Santa’ a bit harder. They should’ve kept it from her about how Santa Clause would come bring her more presents.
Marli jumped on the bed, grinning as Nicola raised an eyebrow at her. Holding out her hand he sighed before joining in, soon his own grin appearing on his face.
Derrick had been in prison before. He didn’t want to repeat it. It wasn’t a nice place, and he was pretty sure Kal would be pissed off with him.
Lukas had lied through countless wars, and as always, they were pointless. Pointless slaughter and blaming the other for the ruckus.
He enjoyed the bloodshed.
Nicola celebrated his birthday again, but with a smaller party this time. He didn’t feel like a repeat of the last years madness.
Kal curled under Derricks arm, blushing as he leaned over and whispered into her ear. She had to remind him that unlike the first time they were on a plane together, their seats didn’t have curtains to hide them.
Emery covered his face as he heard Clara crash into another doorway, groaning. Three days as a human, and she still forgot she was solid now.
The very thought of going to a church was absurd in Nicola’s house hold. For one, none of them believed in a God. So finding someone at their front door, asking them to come to church, was a slightly absurd experience. Nicola didn’t want to say he was pretty sure that enough sin went around in their house that none of them should be allowed in a church.
Kal giggled as she picked the needles out of Derrick’s arm as he grumbled. He should’ve listened when she yelled porcupine, and not think she was just trying to get him off her trail.
“Bang, you’re dead.” “Derrick, we’re not even using guns, get off me so we can actually fight.” “Well, not actual fighting since it’s between you and me, annnd… I’m not getting off.” “Why not?” “Because I want to unwrap you like a present.”
When Emery and Grey moved in to their new home, there were many, many boxes to unpack. Instead, they made them into a fort like little children.
Clara never kept a track of time really. Meaning she never had the same time for eating, sleeping, and getting home. Nicola had to text her to make sure she didn’t forget to come home at all.
Marli raced down the steps, rushing after a blur of white. Looking up as she ran by, Nicola sighed. He really didn’t want to know what that chicken had done now.
There was a hole in her heart, and then Derrick came around. Now her heart was overfilling, and she needed more space to fit it all.
Lukas saw her across the street, waiting for a taxi to go home. Seeing him to, Clara gave a small wave of her hand and a soft smile before disappearing inside the small cab.
Derrick refused to go to hospitals. Unless drugged or tied down. They had to do both when he broke his leg.
Joseph was a monster, one that children cried to their mothers at night. And he loved when the fear entered their eyes in realization at what he was, and what he’d undoubtedly do.
Derrick never lied to Kal. He hid things from her when it was for a surprise or to protect her, but he never, ever lied.
Lukas found the present in the mail with a raise of an eyebrow. He wasn’t interested really in what was inside, but the small handwriting wishing him a Merry Christmas, smelling suspiciously of a curious human.
Clara only visited her grave once. Otherwise, on trips to Italy she stayed away. It was for the best, it just made her cry anyways.
Emery played in the Marti Gras parade, why not? He was a damn good saxophone player, and he was getting paid for something he enjoyed.
Juniper burned in a vampire’s veins, and for Lukas it was no different. Laying in a puddle of his own blood, he cursed in different languages as he couldn’t go and save Veitaliya.
Joseph danced slowly with Veitaliya, pulling her against his chest. He smiled as her hand came to his cheek, pulling him down for a gentle kiss.
Derrick never took drugs. But when his back was in excruciating pain after a bad job, he didn’t care if he took too much, he wanted the pain gone.
Nuallan tossed the knives at the target, hitting perfectly in the middle. Tugging them free, he smirked at the wide eyed stares he was getting from everyone around.
Darla carefully wrote the words on the paper, shaking her head at the young girl on the table before her. She couldn’t understand why she would do something so young, but that wasn’t her job. She just found out how they died, not why.
For once, Lukas wasn’t expecting it. He doubted anyone else was to. But he was left their standing, and so was Nicola as Clara walked back to the car after kissing him in a way that most certainly shouldn’t be done in front of the man that was almost her father.
Grey would always wrap her arms around Emery when he came home. She had missed him, even if it was a short time, and she wanted him to know.
Kal didn’t wear jewelry. But she would wear the necklace Derrick bought for her on occasion, just to show him that she did love it despite her teasing at how he went to the extreme with his presents.
Lukas slammed Farrah against a wall, earning a grin and a moan as he eagerly ripped into her clothing, gaining a pout from the woman. Merry Christmas to him.
When Clara was a ghost, she came across a swing set once. She was now a human, but she still wouldn’t go on the swings.
“Sorry.” “It is alright” “No, it’s not.” “I do not mind.” “You’re always so stubborn.” “There is nothing wrong with being stubborn.” “No. I guess there isn’t.”
Derrick raised an eye at Kals excited grin, sighing as he blew out the candles. How she got his real age, he would never know.
Lukas woke up first, looking at the small girl beside him. It was already noon but she slept soundly and he smiled, waiting for her to wake up to.
It was this time they spent the most time together. Never in the morning, never at lunch. It was always the night that found Derrick and Kal together the most.
Clara sneezed in her slumber, pressing her nose against her pillow. She was going to wake with a cold, but for now it was just dreams for her to deal with.
Nicola had found a perfect place to see London in all it’s wonder and brought Marli with. She thanked him with a kiss that put the city to shame.
“I love you.” That was the confession shared between the two lovers, one to the other, on that rainy day.
Derrick had the habit of brushing his hair before he went to work. He always complained as Kal kissed his cheek, messing it up before he left.
Farrah had one picture of her old family. It was singed at the edges and taped together at being ripped, but it was her family. It could take the damage.
Jumping into his arms Derrick staggered back as Kal kissed him hard on the mouth, after an uneventful day she needed something, or someone, to bring her some excitement.
Clara found Bella in the corner of the house, dragging her pet out. She wasn’t going to be the only one in trouble for the broken vase.
Derrick had gotten use to the dreams that came along with drinking Kal’s blood. He didn’t think he’d get use to waking up to her moaning beneath him..
Clara had her first nightmare the other night. She wouldn’t go to sleep till she passed out from exhaustion.
Their kitten curled in the corner of the room, mewing while Emery tried coaxing her close with a ball of yarn he had just bought from the store.
Poe was having to much fun with the needle and the bodies. Darla threatened to put her on paperwork duty if she didn’t stop cackling as she drew blood.
Kal spun the ring on her finger, smiling as she reached over and took Derrick’s hand, spinning the one on his own finger with a smile before cuddling into his chest.
