When Dhugal MacArdry is seven years old, his father brings him to Rhemuth to be a royal page. There, he meets and befriends Crown Prince Kelson Haldane. This sets in motion a chain of events that will irrevocably change Dhugal's life, but perhaps his greatest misfortune is falling in love with someone who, even under the best of circumstances, is duty-bound to marry elsewhere for heirs.

hi I just saw your (old) post about the deryni books and you are one of like. three people I've ever seen who's read these books outside of my grama and the aunties on the forum at rhemuthcastle.com so hello!! my favorite book series since I was ten years old have you read all of them? do you have a favorite? 😁

I’ve only read the first one so far, but I have the 2nd and 3rd on my shelf. I just found the world-building and characters really great, and it has that old story style with Alaric the (anti) hero relying on wits over strength! It was a nice bit of fresh air.
