it’s difficult- she feels equal parts proud, frustrated, and guilty.
proud because she really does think she accomplished a nearly impossible feat with him. for all intents and purposes, he should be dead, but he’s not. it’s definitely not pretty or painless but she figured out a way to keep him alive and that’s impressive to her. plus she’s really glad to still have him around, and that he trusted her in the first place.
frustrated, however, because she couldn’t do more. moira’s the type of person who likes to be able to solve things and when she can’t it’s incredibly disheartening and like. it makes her mad. it aggravates her that she wasn’t able to cure him in a way that allowed him to return to his normal life.guilty for much the same reason- she like cares about him or whatever? she actually feels kind of bad that she wasn’t able to do more for him. tbh she is still working on stuff for him to this day, trying to repair his cellular structure and stabilize his physical form. the worst part is that she knows even if she DOES manage to figure it out, there’s pretty much no hope of him being able to live a normal life now. :(
His parents raised him to know that anything his father could teach him, his mother could teach him just as well (or better). Of course, he knew he could go to her for anything. But he loves his dad; Jack always felt lucky that he had a father who supported him and loved him so unconditionally. According to his friends, that was hard to come by.
But he’s struggling- he can’t go to his mother for this. She’s in as much pain as he is, and Jack knows that she is trying so hard to keep it together for his sake. He crouches behind the barn outside his house, forehead pressed to his knees, sobbing so hard he can barely breathe. The thought stuns him- his breath catches in his throat and he looks up abruptly. A wave of guilt washes over him- you can’t blame him. Jack draws a shaky breath, pressing the heels of his hands into his eyes. He didn’t choose to leave.

Hm. It’s 50/50, really. He is quite good in leadership positions, he has that natural asshole-charm that makes people listen to him, he’s smart when it comes to military strategy, and he liked being able to help. He’s good at the work he does.
The thing that he hated, was all the political bullshit. Having to ask approval for ops from people who have no fucking idea how it works, having to play nice and pretend he’s not extremely aggravated just because of the public image... Yeah, not his thing. He can be real charming and suave, but he didn’t want to be for a bunch of UN and press assholes.
It’s why giving Jack the job was really not that big of a sacrifice.

No, I don’t think he went all Darth Vader on us, and that’s not how I’m going to play him. I feel it’s a gross underestimation of his character really, to think that the person who started out in spec ops, ran Blackwatch and has been basically one of the best strategic minds there are would just simply.. lose his shit and go ‘evil’ without any underlying reasons. I think that’s poor storytelling, and I think there is a lot more going on.
So yes, absolutely a long con. What his exact plans are? Fuck if I know dude, I’m not a strategic mastermind. But I know it’s a long, long con, one Jack knows some of the details about (kinda depends on the Jack how much exactly) and possibly Sombra some other details, but really, in the end only Reyes knows the full plan.
It makes him exhausting but also really thrilling to play, ngl.
