desciiuit answered: I personally hate the idea that only women can’t be feminists, not just for that reason, but also shouldn’t everyone want gender equality?
Well, the people who support it think that everyone who is not a feminist should use the label "feminist ally". So it's not that they are trying to limit who does and doesn't want gender equality, but rather, the label being applied to those who do. But saying feminist ally is just repetitive since feminist means someone who is an ally to women and who supports gender equality.

Exactly! It can be seen, in some ways, to be trans-exclusionary. Yet, I've heard this sentiment from plenty of anti-TERF feminists before. It also contributes to erasure of trans/non-binary individuals, which, as we know, is really not okay.
betvous said: Mainstream, white, feminism’s treatment of non binary and trans issues is horrid. Men identifying as feminist worries me less. Though a man who insists on using the label and gets huffy about it is suspicious
I do understand being suspicious of those kinds of men--that much is understandable and often very valid. But the only people who have never once experienced misogyny are cis men, so if the label was purely about them, I might be more understanding of the argument for it.
