Descriptive Statistics
In mathematics, statistic is a field of study which is used for organizing, interpretation, collection and analysis of data. In the simple mean we can say that it deals with all kinds of activities with the data to manage them properly. It is also used for making a planning of data collection that provides the helps in real life experiment and forming a survey report.
In the same aspect or field descriptive statistic is used for providing a statistical discipline for defining the features of a collection of data. It means to say that descriptive statistics is a way to summarize the large amount of data, from which the analysis of data can easily be performed. From the above description we can understand that the descriptive statistics is differ from the inferential statistics.
According to the descriptive statistics definition we can say that descriptive statistics provides simple summarization about the sample and the observations that have been created form the bulk of data. This kind of summarization either be a quantitative like summary in statistics, or visual format like understandable graphs. The summarization of data depends on the basis of the initial description of data that play an important role in extensive statistical analysis. In a simple mean descriptive statistics
Provide descriptive data either in visual form or quantities form to perform the suitable analysis of data. To get the summarized data through the descriptive analysis this can be performed by various tool like mean, median or mode. In the below we show how to we perform the descriptive statistic on the available data.
Example: Find the central tendency of following given data by using the mean of descriptive statistics?
28.5, 18.75, 22.9, 25.4, 24.55, 23.7, 23.9
Solution: Now by using the mean we can get the summary of available data as:
c28.5+ 18.75+ 22.9 + 25.4 + 24.55 + 23.7 + 23.9 / 7 = 23.96an be estimated at around 24. Using the above equation, it is:
