jillian, erydian’s own communications manager. of all the people who got something out of the world ending, she’s perhaps the one that got the most. before, in the ‘regular’ world, jillian was a rather unlikeable character. getting by without many skills, jumping from one job to another & always blaming her failings on others, always a master in the art of deceit. she lost contact with her family long before their hometown, atlas end, had been basically wiped out ; she only moved back when talks of a new community started spreading, & is now the spin doctor of erydian’s administration. she’s the one who decides what to say & how, ‘cause lying & manipulating has always been that one skill she excelled at, but had no use for in the regular world.
kevin garvey, no, maximillian, a good samaritan meg’s found as she ran from dorian’s grip. he owned a farm about half a mile from dorian’s barn, & after the night she almost murdered him, meg sought shelter in the first house she found, max’s farm. he took care of her wounds ( most of which she still carries the signs of ) & tried to get her to tell him what was going on, though she couldn’t, had lost the ability to trust during those years. years later, as erydian became a reality, meg made sure to send him a package via a group of rangers who were headed his way. she included some supplies, a thank you note & an invitation to erydian, just in case he was still alive & needed shelter.
the mayor, roberta. formerly a professor of philosophy, her husband was lost during the various disasters that wrecked atlas end, yet she was one of the few who stubbornly refused to leave the town she’d grown up in, & was actually one of the first to work on the concept of erydian & what it would become. her ideas have now heavily strayed from what she’d originally planned, with more & shadier interests focusing on the small town, but she still proudly leads the town & its ever changing face.
edward, roberta’s son. simply put, he’s the guy that gets things done. his mother commands, he executes — he’s the one that tells people how to do things, when to do them, when to speak & when to act. everyone adores him, the whole town is mesmerized by his charming smile & the charisma he spreads around like a scent: it’s an act. he’s ruthless, & won’t stop in front of nothing to get where he wants. he’d been studying to follow a career in politics before the world went to shit & is now fully prepared to take his mother’s place, when the time comes.
amelia, grief counselor & therapist. a key figure in erydian, as the demand for someone to help people figure out exactly what had happened was constantly rising. her husband & her three children all died in an earthquake; she keeps up a mask, pretends she’s fine, she can still get the job done & can handle her pain, but she’s been crumbling for a while, now. her grief has led to various self-destructive tendencies, including an addiction to prescription drugs, for which she makes deals with various shadier members of the town.
jessica, one of the first girls to join dorian’s cult. she joined roughly three months after margaret had started following him around, but the tragic part is, her permanence in the cult was also one of the shortest. jessica disappeared, out of the blue, barely one month after joining. dorian never explained what had happened to her, claiming she’d run off on her own & the gods would punish her, but meg never truly believed him ( or at least realized the fault in his lies years later ).
