Heaven in a Holiday
Heaven in a Holiday
I’m not actually sure that I have ever been quite so excited.
In exactly 3 weeks and 4 days I am headed off on a very spontaneous and last-minute holiday. My sweet BFG and I are heading over to the Middle East and Turkey. Oh man, I just can’t wait!

My favourite Aunt lives in Qatar and has been wanting us to come for a visit. After the crappy year we had last year, and even worse start to this year, my parents said that if we wanted to go, they would give us the frequent flyer points to get us there and back. We are to organise everything in between. This is literally the only reason we can afford to go. They are seriously the most generous and incredibly sweet people on this earth. (And I am seriously sounding like some sort of fangirl…?)
Ok, ok. Itinerary: First, we fly into Qatar and spend 4 nights/5 days with my Aunt. Unfortunately the only time we can go is June, and she just so happens to have a very busy month in June. At least I get to see her. It’s been a few years.
Then, we fly to Jordan. In Jordan we are going to see Petra (I’m an archaeology student, it would be sacrilegious if I didn’t go!). We only have a day for Petra (and night) so hopefully this gives us enough time to see as much as possible and do a few little hikes that I have read about! (Although I don’t think there will be enough time to go all the way to Aaron’s Tomb… Dang) We are also spending 3 nights in the desert of Wadi Rum – hiking, riding camels and jeep rides. That will be an experience.
After this we’re headed to Turkey. A 7 night/8 day gulet cruise around the Lycian coast – Yes please. I am ready for that Mediterranean heaven. Oh I already don’t want to come home. The way our flights worked out, we were forced to spend 3 nights/4 days in Istanbul (Horrible, I know… Life is tough!). I hadn’t really thought too much about it, mainly because our original plan didn’t leave any time for anything else, but now: I LOVE YOU ISTANBUL! Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque… Yea I know, so touristy. But you know what, they are icons for a reason. There had to be something incredible about them for so many people to start and continue to go there. I will take being touristy over staying at home any day. Plus, who says in between all of this touristy goodness we won’t stumble upon some hidden treasures?! Nobody, that’s who.
Now, instead of bursting my bubble (which you can’t, so don’t waste your energy) you just sit there, look at these picture I scoured up from google and be jealous. I would be.
Until tomorrow… x B
