Larrea tridentata, is also called creosote bush or greasewood. Medicinally it is known as chaparral. In Spanish it is known as gobernadora because it can secure more water by inhibiting the growth of nearby plants. In Sonora, it is more commonly called hediondilla which is related to hediondo, which means ‘smelly’.
