We use 'it' for animals instead of relevant pronouns. It refers to objects. We call them livestock. Living things! We call them commodities, products, property and proudly refer to ourselves as their owners! The names of animals are used in derogatory ways like 'kutta' (dog) or 'suer' (pig) to demean others. Why? Why is our vocabulary constantly putting down animals and making them seem like objects and curse words? Because that's how vocabulary turns them from individuals and victims to nothing. They don't remain our fellow sentient beings anymore, but become something to hate being compared to. And that attitude strengthens our discrimination against them, making it easy to turn the terrorism and slavery animals face at the hands of humans, practically invisible. So, never ever use speciesist vocabulary. Value and respect animals with your actions and the words that come out of your mouth.

It's not difficult to be a vegan, nor does it seem to be like you're depriving yourself of something when you give each animal the same respect that you would to a dog or cat. You wouldn't mind obsessively going through the ingredients of some food item or piece of cloth or soap if you knew there was a chance that dog abuse was a part of it. Vegans do that.. for every animal. We don't think it's an inconvinice, we instead think it's a horror that such cruel products are even allowed to exist in the human society. And we make every effort possible to never ever use them. In case there's ambiguity with any product, we simply choose not to buy it rather than accidentally supporting animal abuse.

Remember vegans: You will be praised for abandoning the oppressed animals by the non-vegans/speciesists. You will be accepted, put on a pedestal for not being a 'preachy vegan' and be used as an example of a 'good vegan' if you erase animals and their moral worth from the conversations. Remember vegans. It is not you who will suffer if you accept this 'honour'. It is the animals who will pay the price for your 'non-peachiness' and silence towards the injustice happening towards them. So, fuck the glory and scream about animal rights for the animal mothers and the animal fathers and their children stuck in the slaughterhouses and the dairy farms, in the zoos and the riding schools and so many other places of animal exploitation. I don't want to be accepted and glorified if it means abandoning the weak and helpless. Keep your approval. I'll take animal liberation instead.

Animal slavery is immoral and should be abolished. This is not up for debate. Nothing in this world, not plants feel pain, not b12, not circle of life simba, not accidental animal deaths, NOTHING can justify enslaving animals by arrogantly calling them your property. Animal rights are not up for debate just like your rights aren't.

Animal oppressors do not want veganism to ever be brought up because it is a direct attack on their human supremacy and speciesism. It is an attack on every dairy farm and chicken shop, every business that profits of off animal abuse and every person who keeps that business running by demanding animal abuse. These people do not want veganism to ever be brought up and if it is, they will try to detach it from it's actual meaning (social justice movement for animal rights/stand against speciesism) and try to make it seem like a health fad or an environment issue that you can improve by just reducing your animal cruelty. All this just to desperately keep oppressing animals by keeping those horrific shops and businesses open that exploite and kill innocents and feed the greedy stomachs, drape the filthy bodies of people who think that only their own species is entitled to moral consideration.

people reeeeaaaally hate being told that eggs/honey/milk/fur/feathers/animal bodies don't belong to them and that animals are not human property. the entitled attitudes are sky high and then they have the guts to pretend that human privilege doesn't exist 🙄

Speciesism is a form of bigotry just like racism or sexism and we will keep screaming that until people start taking this injustice towards animals as seriously as injustice towards humans. Don't mistake for a second that being a non-vegan is a choice. No, it is an extreme form of hatred and prejudice towards the animals manifesting itself in various violent forms/animal rights violations like slaughterhouses, dairy farms, wool farms, zoos, animal testing etc.

Supporting them is not a choice, but a declaration that you're willing to oppress and kill the ones weaker than you; that you're willing to misuse your power and privilege that comes with being a human and create misery for innocents. That is an unacceptable thing to do. The very existence of such bigotry, of speciesism is unacceptable, especially among humans who claim to be ethical. And we need to put an end to it. We must, we must and we will.

When you say being vegan is difficult, you've forgotten the victim. Please don't do that. Remember why you even considered going vegan in the first place. Maybe you looked at your dog and thought the chicken you eat is also like your dog only. Maybe you looked at your child and couldn't justify what happens in the dairy industry. Maybe you stopped looking at your own pleasure and remembered the cost of that pleasure; sad miserable dear animals. Remember those reasons again. Remember the victims and the priority will become clear. Life over convenience, rights over momentary pleasure. Be vegan 💛
