Criminal is a podcast about crime. Stories of people who’ve done wrong, been wronged, or gotten caught somewhere in the middle.

Yesterday, I started listening to some of the podcasts here on crime! They’re short stories that are pretty intriguing. I haven’t had time to really sit down to develop insights yet, but here are small things I’ve learned/found interesting so far: 

How are people “trained” to be liars? In Episode 2, an expert in human memory and deception has an interviewing technique that can spot if someone is lying. He monitor someone’s response length to their unique word count!

There is a Venus Flytrap Crime Ring in North Carolina. Somewhere out there is a black market for venus flytraps....

 An 11 year old hacker broke the internet. The internet feels so weak in the hands of hackers sometimes.

There are a lot of ill-intentioned people out there who can get away with multiple muggings and attacks, even in a court.

I tried to make a timeline for my thesis project as a way to confront it and say, 

“Hey Thesis, this is how it’s gonna go down. Love, Eden” 

I ended up making two versions. The first timeline is a nice and tidy map that would cause PoD alumni to give their disapproving head shakes and plenty of cackles and laughs. The map on the right is my second attempt to judge this process a little more realistically. Truthfully, I think these are both too optimistic, and I stop anticipating the details and just ride out the wave. 

Someone remind me in a year to make a post-thesis map so we can see how it really went down.
