We believe that our hostels are a mere pit-stop in the journey which is most important, and the travel experience and the spirit of exploring should not stop when inside the hostel. But the hostel should actually inspire a traveler to explore more and make one fall in love with the city even more. With this intention, we always try to use and showcase as much of the local techniques of the place as much as possible at the hostel. Here is the latest progress update at our upcoming #Jodhpur hostel with rooftop cafe flooring being completed with a local construction method called 'tukdi' tile flooring, which is very local and special to Jodhpur. The word tukdi means pieces. Here these women are using pieces of different broken ceramic tiles to create ornate colorful patterns on the floor, while still bestowing other benefits of recycling old broken tiles, saving costs, waterproofing rooftop better than with just cement and helping the lower flood remain cooler in the desert area. # recycle #stopshostels #domoretogether #localisbest #usinglocalknowledge #beautifulpatterns #patterns #patternsofindia #designsofindia #artsofindia #colorfulindia #incredibleindia #tukdi (at Jodhpur, Rajasthan)
