I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while, but I’m finally going to doing it! I will be uploading a series of posts across my social media profiles regarding value engineering (#VE), one of the methodologies I use to facilitate #workshops as Principal of PMOK Consulting, my consulting firm. 11 benefits of running a design sprint with your team A design sprint is a 5-day sequence of workshops that can help in product and business decisions. There are definitely upsides to running them: #1: A design sprint provides a completely new way of working together #2: A design sprint saves time #3: You get the most out of your team’s knowledge #4: You can get everyone on the same page by defining the goals together #5: You get inspiration from the most unexpected sources #6: The design sprint team learns how to elaborate on ideas #7: You learn how to think in flows #8: You learn how to create quick prototypes #9: You can validate your idea These are the commonly known benefits. With a design sprint you can solve a chosen product or business related problem in 5 days. All you need is your team and a facilitator who knows the method. When should you use it? Think about your current product, team and problem: 1. Do you have a specific problem that needs a solution? 2. Is the problem complex with no obvious solution? 3. Do you need a cross-functional team to solve your problem? 4. Is your problem worth investing 5 days? 5. Do you need full-on innovation for a changing or a new market? If you have answered yes to all 5 questions, you might benefit from a design sprint with your product team.
