Noun-derogatory, humorous A unisex term used for a person who is physically repulsed by all things progressive and for the love of god can never mind their own damn business. Plural-Jananiyaan Synonyms-Aurtaana, lugai, etc. (they may sound like their targeted at women but no-no in our “modern” desi society there is no such thing as gender stereotypes) USERS ALSO LOOKED UP: JANINIYON WAALI HARKAT, NAAPUNSAK, NAAMARD. Back in the day the word might’ve been used as a lingo for women but “ab to solid baesti h boss.” Don’t get me wrong I’m the most down to earth, awesome, amazing, modest and non judgemental person to ever exist. Did I mention self assured and totally not insecure? *cue nervous laughter* But when I see them jananis out on the streets being all badass and judgey, I get all envious because honestly..... #lifegoals. Seriously, all these jananis with their “Haters gonna hate” swag give me major insecurity vibes. I’ll be chilling in the metro minding my own business, but as soon as I hear a mere whisper of slight on point judgement from a janani, my whole life flashes in front of my eyes (bad decisions, drunk texts, smudged kajal, slight cleavage, mismatched cloths). They break you down point by point, target all your non existant insecurities (and make sure there are plenty) and once they are done they leave all jokes and laughter with their saheli, leaving behind a giant heaping (sometimes sobbing) mess of a puny bean a.k.a. YOU. It is time to follow the glorious path chosen by my foremothers and the mothers before them, I shall become a “true” woman. (No, I'm not pregnant- just fat.)
