Brennan Lee Mulligan and Matt Mercer talking about their friendship and Dungeons & Dragons for an hour was an absolute delight. I love them expressing the sentiment: This isn't a competition between actual play shows. Dimension 20 and Critical Role aren't competing against each other. They're a community. They build each other up by collaborating. And look how successful they've been. We get different stories from diverse creators because they lift one another up and spotlight and celebrate other creators.
Actual Play being a community is responsible for introducing me to so many of my favourite storytellers, and if it had been competitive and cutthroat, I would've never found their stories. What a horrible loss that would be for us all.
Hello. Jordon Brown is an irresponsible and, bluntly, bad reporter who willingly spread information given to him as part of a smear campaign of Omar Najam, orchestrated by Saige Ryan.
(TL;DR at the bottom)
Jordon Brown, or, THEjordonbrown, or "doctoropout" is Dropout's #1 reporter (a title given by himself) who reports on TikTok, instagram, and Bluesky about anything and everything Dropout. He calls himself a reporter. He is an entertainment reporter, I must stress this. He is a reporter.
Yesterday (technically 2 days ago, July 26th), he posted a report that Omar Najam, who many of you may know from ACOFAF on D20 and from Desiquest, had been charged with, to put it in plain terms, inappropriately using a hidden camera and posting revenge porn. This was brought to attention because Omar was scheduled to appear on a panel at GenCon.
As most would think happened, the fandom immediately went up in flames, with many people denouncing Omar immediately, and many (following Jordon Brown, Dropout's #1 Reporter's, own words) messaged GenCon, flooding their email and private messages about the matter.
Of course, as some of you probably thought, this is a bit much from a record that 1) showed no proof it was THE Omar Najam that Dropout's #1 Reporter was alluding to, 2) charges with no information given other than the fact the charges were, in fact, given, and 3) a large leap in logic to take with no actual details about the arrest, the charges, or any matters surrounding them.
This would lead to Dael Kingsmill coming to Omar's defense on Twitter, and eventually Surena Marie making a TikTok video explaining the situation in full, detailing a very personal, obviously emotional story that explained the situation.
To paraphrase, Saige Ryan (who you will most likely only know as a temporary member of Smosh) was, and is, leading a smear campaign against Omar as a result of Carlos Luna (yes, that Carlos Luna) cheating on his now ex-wife, Surena Marie, with Saige.
Back to Dropout's #1 Reporter, in a (now-deleted) response to his (now-deleted) "call-out" post, Jordon said he got the information from the "victim", I.e the person who had pressed charges, and whom also filed a restraining order on Omar Najam, I.e Saige Ryan. Jordon Brown, due to his lack of willingness to research or be literally any average journalist, presented information to thousands of people, propelling a smear campaign against Omar Najam.
And, just to sort of add a horrible cherry on top, Carlos Luna publicly reposted this call-out post (as you can see in the image below)
That is all the information we have now, please be 1) respectful, and 2) wary of the information presented, as we have no actual statements from the "other side" (Saige Ryan or Carlos Luna.)
TL;DR, Jordon Brown, Dropout's #1 Reporter, helped to propell a smear campaign against Omar Najam---a smear campaign headed by Saige Ryan and Carlos Luna, the latter of whom cheated on his ex and Omar's current partner, Surena Marie.
