Pokemon for the Professor (brought on by the prompt)
(I have an entire pokemon team for the good professor. :3 Each one chosen for a reason. Back story, move set, and hold item included. :3 I think, all in all, it took me about...2-3 hours? But it was great fun. :3 I figured it'd be nice to share.)
Knows Flamethrower, Perish Song, Bite, and Psycho Cut.
Snape's first pokemon, he found the Absol back when it was only a level 5, hiding in the dungeons after taking a heavy beating from the Whomping Willow. The two became fast friends, and the reportedly ominous pokemon tends to follow the professor closely, refusing to be contained in a pokeball. The only time Princess was seen without Snape at her side was when she arrived at Lily and James Potter's house the day before the attack, refusing to leave, causing James to knock the poor pokemon out, out of fear for her boarderline obsessive behavior. Had she been conscious, Severus is sure his partner would've done everything in her power to save the couple and their son.
"Salazar XXVI" male Serperior. (nickname present when he got it)
Knows Leaf Storm, Grass Knot, Hyper Beam, and Synthesis.
His most recently obtained pokemon. Given to Snape at level 70 by Dumbledore, it's rumored this Serperior is a direct descendant of Salazar Slytherin's Serperior. Each house master of Slytherin gets a member of the "Salazar family line". The two don't truly get along well, and often when Snape attempts to use the Serperior in battle it will turn away in a huff. However, should Salazar be attacked, he does obey Snape long enough to defend himself valiantly, then catch a nap. It is presumed that Salazar is so stand offish to Snape as a direct result of it's "pure bloodline", and Snape's own humble roots.
Knows Fire Fang, Heat Wave, Crunch, and Will-O-Wisp.
Shortly after finding Princess, Snape found Lex as an egg. He was one of the last to leave a potions class late in his third year when he spotted James Potter at the top of the stairs get jostled, a pokemon egg he was carrying dropping and gaining a nasty crack down its side. James lamented the loss of the surely dead pokemon, and left, leaving Snape to gather the fragile egg up and wrap it up tightly, doing his best to care for it. To his surprise, it hatched into a Growlithe a few days later. Lex appears no worse for wear, despite having a permanent limp due to the trauma his egg received. He's still a force to be up against, and he's fiercely protective of his master. When Snape found Harry's dropped golden egg later, he reportedly complained about "Potters and their carelessness around eggs."
"Romeo" male Lucario. (named by Lily)
Knows Metal Claw, Aura Sphere, Close Combat, and Extreme Speed.
In his fourth year, Lily gave Severus a small Riolu pup, claiming she couldn't bring him home because her sister, Petunia, would likely treat it badly out of fear of the unexplained. With a little lighthearted teasing about the Riolu's name, Snape gladly adopted the little fox, and quickly grew quite close to it. Now an impressive, full grown Lucario, Romeo enjoys being released from time to time for a battle, or just to laze about the dungeons. In Severus's will, he has it written that Harry Potter will inherit the impressive pokemon.
"Poinsettia" female Glaceon.
Knows Ice Fang, Blizzard, Ice Beam, and Frost Breath.
In his last year as a student at Hogwarts, Snape found a tiny female Eevee knocked out in the snow. Using some potions he had begun carrying in case of pokemon battles, he roused the little Eevee, spurring it to level up and evolve shortly after when they were attacked by a Beartic. The diminutive pokemon is far from weak, and now, Poinsettia usually spends her time running about in the dungeons, giving them their always-cold feeling. A frozen poinsettia flower tucked behind her ear. Should Severus ever need her, however, she'd show up within moments at just a whistle, and gladly take up a spot in a pokeball for an adventure.
Knows Aromatherapy, Return, Bounce, and Giga Drain.
Not long after the attack on the Potter family, Snape found a baby Deerling napping near the wreckage of the Potter family home, close by his knocked out Absol. Rousing the KO'ed pokemon, he caught the Deerling in homage to his lost love. Few know he has the Deerling, as few manage to get past his Absol alone in a battle, let alone his other beloved pokemon. He frequently will play with the Deerling with his Patronus, when he's certain he's alone, anyway.
