Where I Am Now 2.8.16

What’s up guys!

Today I’m going to let you in on where I am with my skin, post-cystic acne.  It’s been about 1.5 years since I’ve been on birth control and had pretty clear skin, relative to my crazy cystic acne skin.  At the moment I only break out occasionally and do way better when I exfoliate regularly.  I do have a good amount of hyperpigmentation and acne scarring.  Enough so that if I don’t wear makeup, I’m self-conscious of my hyperpigmentation and if I do wear makeup, my pitted acne scars show up.  The STRUGGLE IS REAL!

As far as healing these issues, laser surgery is the only thing that will clear up my pitted scars.  They’re relatively deep so my dermatologist told me that I would need a pretty deep laser treatment.  I have yet to go get a consultation from a plastic surgeon, but according to my dermatologist it will be $5000.  And as a college student I don’t have that kind of money at the moment.  So I’m just sitting here making sure I don’t break out and work on healing my hyperpigmentation.  

Brightening treatments and products are my BEST FRIENDS for the time being.  Some products that I recommend for brightening are the Mario Badescu Whitening Mask $24.  I have RAVED about this for a long time.  It’s one of my HOLY GRAIL products.  I also really like the Mario Badescu Vitamin C Serum $45 and the When Snow Magic Brightening Sheet Mask $7. 

I’m also planning on finding an esthetician to help me along the way!  I’ve been doing my research on ones in my area and I think I may have found one.  I’m hoping that I’ll be able to get on a regular peel or facial schedule and that it will better the appearance of my skin even further. 

So that’s where I am with this.  It’s a daily struggle and even though I don’t have cystic acne anymore I still have to deal with the after effects.
