I kind of hate how detect alignment/magic spells tend to be portrayed as visual effects. They should be much more effects on your emotions, your nerves, your olfactory senses, and maybe a phantom effect on your other senses.
Good feels like the tired ache after a workout
Evil causes a piercing cringe like nails on chalkboard or eye scream
Order tastes like an ice cube melting on your tongue
Chaos gives off the flickering heat of a bonfire
Abjuration feels like running into a glass door you didn’t see
Conjuration echoes like a howling wind in the distance
Divination feels like being watched by someone at the corner of your vision
Evocation tingles your nerves like static electricity
Illusion feels like silk passing over your skin
Necromancy feels like phantom strings tugging at your limbs
Transmutation ticks rhythmically, quietly, and insistently
