Headquarters, we've detected an early illustration of what looks to be the Detect Magic spell in the AD&D 1st Edition Players Handbook. Roger, but are those dice in the magic-user's hand? That's unclear, Headquarters… on THAC0 Thursday!!
@cursedmystic
She’d say it’s not like him but it absolutely is. Gengar leaps into her shadow and Haunter bursts into cackle-laughter from her hair, a shadow hand extending out to grab his head and scratch.
Poor thing.
“Okay. Let’s find him.”
She pressed a palm forward, glowing green, twisting her fingers and blowing green, shimmering dust off of the tips. It flickers, and flies about like fairy light, attaching to much of the area.
Continuing to make 1 pic every month. This is from February.
This is the dragon (more detailed) from my Albion guild's tabard. Detect Magic. I struggled cause I wanted to do more detailed (cause I feel like I should) but the tabard is very simple and I didn't want him to be unrecognizable.
DM: The corridor you found yourselves in curves to the left and to the right.
Sett (human wizard): Let’s go with the decline first.
DM: You come to a doorway.
Sett: Cress, detect magic?
Cressida (aasimar warlock): I cast it as a cantrip. “Hewwo!”
Sett: God, that’s broken. I’ve saved so many spell slots.
I kind of hate how detect alignment/magic spells tend to be portrayed as visual effects. They should be much more effects on your emotions, your nerves, your olfactory senses, and maybe a phantom effect on your other senses.
Good feels like the tired ache after a workout
Evil causes a piercing cringe like nails on chalkboard or eye scream
Order tastes like an ice cube melting on your tongue
Chaos gives off the flickering heat of a bonfire
Abjuration feels like running into a glass door you didn’t see
Conjuration echoes like a howling wind in the distance
Divination feels like being watched by someone at the corner of your vision
Evocation tingles your nerves like static electricity
Illusion feels like silk passing over your skin
Necromancy feels like phantom strings tugging at your limbs
Transmutation ticks rhythmically, quietly, and insistently
