Love the callback to Stella and Augie chatting while lying down. Especially loved Augie's "August Walker." A few more years and he can add "Texas Ranger" to that introduction!

That final shot of the all the rangers at the crime scene... beautiful and heartbreaking.

Who said “I love you” first

I’m sure Georgia’s tackled this one much better than I can, but I like to think it’s Michael. You’d think maybe it would be all lovey dovey Miles, but the dude can get sort of insecure about things at times. And Michael is an all or nothing kind of guy and once Michael decides, hey we’ve been together long enough, we’ve done enough together, I can’t stop thinking of you and how much I love you, I’m just gonna go ahead and say it. Though Miles does return it right away of course.

Who would have the other’s picture as their phone background

Michael. Michael has two different pics, a nicer slightly more innocent one at his lock screen. Just like a smiley, happy Miles. His home one is one he took when they were laying in bed together, Miles dozing next to Michael, looking so cute and sweet and adorable curled in the blankets and Michael just had to get a pic. Miles would but it might start some questions about why he has a picture of LSPD’s most wanted on his phone. (But don’t worry, Miles has thousands saved on his phone still).

Who leaves notes written in fog on the bathroom mirror

Miles the sap. Lil hearts and stuff. Michael yells at him at first because “you’re going to leave streaks on the glass!” but really Michael loves it.

Who buys the other cheesy gifts

Miles. Listen he impulse buys sometimes, ok? And this grumpy cat shirt reminded me of you, Michael, love it. (And Michael doesn’t buy. He’ll steal something stupid that reminds him of Miles)

Michael. And boy is it always one hell of a first kiss.

On the few times Miles is awake before Michael, he’ll probably do it. Even though Michael is grumpy about it all, he’s adorably grumpy about it and Miles loves it.

I’m laughing so hard. Cause I just imagined. Michael getting himself arrested. And some ‘strange paper bag’ confiscated from him. And Michael is just yelling not to destroy the thing. But everyone at first thinks it’s a bomb. Cause it’s Mogar of course it would be a bomb. But when one of the officers are finally brave enough to open it. It’s just a sack lunch. Everyone is so confused. And then Miles asks about it when he enters the interrogation room with Michael. Michael just shrugs and is like, “you forgot it at home. And I know when you do that you don’t eat, like a dipshit. So I brought it to you.”

Who was nervous and shy on the first date

They both are of course in their own little ways. But once they get conversation going, they get over it pretty quickly.

Who kills/takes out the spiders

Miles. Michael fucking hates the things and will not go near them. Any spiders found in their house/apartment/whatever usually just results in a lot of screaming.

Who loudly proclaims their love when they’re drunk

Oh definitely Michael. He does it sometimes even when Miles isn’t around. Miles has a ten minute long video sent to him from Gavin once of Michael going on and on about how “hot and sexy and cute and amazing” Miles is when they went out drinking once. It’s one of the best things Miles has ever seen. (he most definitely does not cry the first time he watches it, what are you talking about)

Lunael and Jerevin going on double dates

umm??? yes??! I fucking love this idea. Can you imagine though. like them all going to a bar. because Gavin just has to properly get to know Miles and of course wants to make an evening out of it. Michael is reluctant at first, not because he doesn’t think Miles would love Gavin and Jeremy but just like. Three Fakes and a mysterious fourth person? People are gonna notice and look into it. But Gavin just says they’ll stick to a bar in their territory and everything will be fine.

But of course, because it’s them and it’s a bar, somehow in there Michael and Jeremy end up in a bar fight. They don’t even remember why, but they’re having the time of their damn lives fighting off a bunch of drunk idiots. And Gavin and Miles just stay off to the side, shaking their heads at their drunk idiots. Gavin starts placing bets on how many they’re going to end up fighting and knocking. Miles wins the bet at ten.

6. “No, don’t cry, I hate it when you cry”

Miles had to find out from the news.

He hadn’t heard from Michael all day but that wasn’t unusual. Especially when they were on bigger jobs and Michael didn’t want to risk his phone being tracked. And Miles didn’t know details of whatever they were doing, always wanting to be left out so he could claim innocence if ever asked. So not getting a text as his shift ended and he made his way back to his apartment wasn’t particularly concerning to him. Maybe it should’ve been.

But it’s the news where Miles sees it. From blurry cell phone footage, some cover of a shootout that happened near the docks. Two crews believed to have been fighting over something. Despite the bad footage, Miles is still able to recognize the mop of curls, the dusty brown leather jack. Miles watches at Michael’s figure fires a few rounds out of his gun, then a sharp crack, then his mouth opening, screaming in pain. Then him going down. Then him not getting back up.

Miles is frantically texting Michael as the footage cuts off. When there’s no response for several minutes he calls. When the fourth call isn’t picked up, he is racing to his car, and speeding to the Fakes’ base.

Miles gets there in record speed, bursting through the front door (he had long been given the codes from Michael), and nearly knocking Jack onto her ass as he rushes inside, demanding for Michael.

Jack leads him to a back room, their makeshift infirmary. Michael lays across the bed, IV running into his arm, body looking pale. He was asleep, but the rise and fall of his chest showed he was at least alive. Blessedly alive.

“The shot missed anything vital,” Jack explains as Miles collapses besides Michael. His hands hover over the bandages, wrapped across his chest, over his shoulder. Instead, Miles takes hold of Michael’s hand, gripping it tightly.

“Why didn’t any of you tell me?” Miles says, voice going uncharacteristically cold.

“We just got him stable. We were going to call you,” Jack says. But Miles glares at her, unbelieving. She drops her gaze and sighs. She leaves the room soon after. Giving the lovers some time alone.

“I can’t believe you,” Miles whispers to unconscious Michael. “I knew you were reckless but I think this is a bit much. Getting yourself shot so out in the open like that. What the hell were you thinking?” Miles laughs but it falls flat and then tears are pricking his eyes.

“God damn it, Michael,” he breaths out. “You really fucking scared me this time. Fuck, every time it scares me. I-I don’t know what I would do if something happened to you. I love you so much, Michael. So fucking much and if you... If you died--”

His voice catches in his throat and tears fell before he could think to stop them. He holds Michael’s hand like a lifeline. Like if he let go he would be gone.

Michael stirs after a while, Miles isn’t sure how long he sat there before it happened. He returned the grip on his hand, blinking awake and slowly realizing who it was besides him.

“M-Miles...?” his voice cracks as he looks over at him.

“Hey,” Miles says, giving a small smile, despite the fact that he looked like a mess. His eyes were red rimmed, cheeks still wet from tears.

“Don’t cry...” Michael says, groggily from sleep and pain meds. He reaches over to Miles, cupping his face and his thumb brushing away some of his tears. “I hate it when you cry.”

Miles gives a small huff of laughter. “Can’t help it. You know I’m a big baby.”

Michael cracks a smile. “Yeah, I know. But don’t cry now. I’m alright.”

Miles leans in, brushing a quick kiss against his lips. “You better be, Jones. Because I will be pissed if you aren’t.”

“Takes much more than a few bullets to take down Mogar,” Michael grins. “I’m not leaving you just yet.”

Miles laughs, a little brighter and Michael pulls him into yet another kiss. And Michael is warm and bright and okay. And it’s enough for now.
