Sherlock had been staying well away from 221B, but that didn’t mean he didn’t miss it. At his new flat, there was a family next door. There wasn’t anything particularly intriguing about this family, nothing hardly interesting at all, expect for one member of the family, Milly.

Milly seemed curious about everything, which Sherlock very much enjoyed. Something about children that actually wanted to learn and wanted to figure things out had always pleased him.  Milly always seemed to be smiling and asking questions, and that in and of itself was a pleasant distraction from the painful loneliness that he had been feeling

Sherlock went out into the little courtyard, taking his notebook and two pencils and sat down on the bench in the middle. This was Milly and his signal, he would be sitting there and she would come out and see him. He noted her in the window of her flat, looking out at him, making him smile. He waved to her and held up his notebook.

“Come along, Milly.” he smirked to himself. “Things to learn today if we get an early start to the park.”
