Lovesickâs manor was a much a maze as a home sometimes, as far as Devastate was concerned. What a man needed so much space for, he couldnât fathom. He still wasnât sure heâd even seen every room on the huge property, or half of the garden, in all his time wandering around it. I wonder if dove even has, the thought crossed his mind, and he let an amused huff out into the empty hall. The air disturbed the steam curling in front of him, from the cup in his hands, taken from AodhĂĄn outside the kitchen.
He shouldâve asked where exactly he was taking it when he took it. Hindsight is 20/20 and all, they say. No matter, it shouldnât be cold by the time he finds him.
Though it nearly is, steam no longer spilling from the rim of the cup, when he finds the blond muttering to himself at the back door, tapping a pen on paper in front of him. Jezebel proves the first assumption wrong and announces his presence with a clicky sort of cat scream, standing and stretching on the table from the other side of Lovesick, and the man in question turns to face him too.
âOh, good evening, darling.â Heâs greeted with a soft smile that makes Devastateâs lips twitch in a mimicking way.
âI was about to sound a manhunt for you.â Devastate replies. âWhat are you doing out here so late, dove?â
Lovesickâs smile twists into an infuriatingly perfect pout, and blue eyes slide to the horizon. âI was just watching the sunset, is all.â
He doesnât need words to point out how dark that horizon is now, the stars dimly twinkling above, and Lovesickâs pout only grows at the look. Devastate raises a hand in surrender. âOf course. Just watching the lovely sunset. And having a cup of tea to go with it.â He offers the cup with his other hand, carefully balanced on itâs little plate.
âYou brought me tea?â Lovesick says it like he wasnât expecting any such thing, and Devastate pulls the cup back.
âI figured youâd appreciate me bringing it to you.â He says, and Lovesick slumps back in his chair slightly, a tiny sigh and purse of his lips that doesnât hide the amusement on his face any at all. âIâm a damn finer sight than AodhĂĄn, I think we can agree. Iâll just give it to someone who does appreciate the handsome delivery man.â
Lovesickâs face turns thoughtful, at the mention of his cupid. âYou got it from AodhĂĄn? I had not asked him for anything-â
Devastate shrugs, and picks the little round cup up and puts it to his mouth for a sip-
â-except for Jezebelâs medicine.â Lovesick near chokes out, throwing a hand up to cover his mouth, but the warning comes much too late.
Devastate spits his mouthful of unwashed ass juice half onto the porch, half down his own chin, and holds the offending cup as far as his arm can allow him, gagging on the remnant of the taste in his mouth.
When he looks back up at Lovesick, having done his best to scrub the awful from his tongue with the heel of his palm, the man is laughing behind a hand, near in tears, and the shaking only gets worse when he notices Devastate has noticed him, and the laughter becomes vocal, no longer hidden behind his hand.
