Our New Dev Is So Cute!

We’ve got exciting news! Looklist just welcomed a new team member! His name is Matt, he’ll be helping us with front end development as we work towards launching our redesign and native apps. We’re super excited to have him, say hello!

Hi there! 

My name is Matt. I’m the newest addition to the Looklist team, as a front end developer. As my Hello World addition to the Looklist blog, I’d like to talk to you about why I’m happy to be here.

I’ve never been a big fan of things. What is a thing? A thing is when you expect something to be quick and easy and it suddenly becomes much more complicated. When you run to the store for milk and end up running into your 5th grade teacher who wants to talk for an hour or two, that’s a thing. When a friend asks for help moving a couch and you end up spending the rest of the day moving all of his furniture, this too is a thing. Picking up the phone for an unknown number is almost guaranteed to be a thing.

For me, fashion has always been a thing. For most of my life I have been a t-shirt and jeans kind of guy because the whole process of discovering a look that suited me was always a process I was unwilling to undertake. But as I have matured (somewhat) I have come to realize that fashion is a form of communication, and an important one. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a visual first impression is an introductory essay. And while there is certainly nothing wrong with being a t-shirt and jeans kind of guy, I think it’s time to expand my fashion repertoire.

That’s why I am looking forward to my time here at Looklist. We are creating an experience for all kinds of people, to the fashionistas at the cutting edge of style down to people like me who need a nudge in the right direction. For me, Looklist makes fashion less of a thing.
